I had a very stressful event last week. The line from my lobster trap got caught in my propeller. While I struggled in the dark to free it the waves were pushing me closer and closer to the jetties. It got pretty **** scary!

So now I am researching propeller guards.

The concept appears sound. The cost is minimal. But I can't remember ever seeing them on other boats.

I would love to hear some opinions on these.

I had a mac's river runner for a bit. saved me more than once. I took it off in the need for speed. I have seen another type that is a hoop around the prop. probably would work for your situation. also have seen a lot of old timers that had a pitch fork in front of the prop. looked very promising.
