15 foot flat bottom jon boat project.

Hello to everybody here on the site. I've been reading this site for some time and recently embarked on my first project jon boat.
I found a 15 starcraft flat bottom boat. I hope its OK to ask questions in this section. The boat doesn't leak but since I have everything ripped up I'm wondering if I should continue it and maybe re-do the foam or at least check it?
Lastly where would you take the measurement to see how wide the boat is for safe decking? Stern, bow, or mid section? I read a great sticky thread here on the site about minimum length for safe decking. The boat has a deck already but I want to raise it and extend it but want to do it safely. THANK YOU in advance!

Welcome aboard! Measure the width at the bottom of the transom. The boat looks like a 1542 or a 1548. The tape will tell.
