Seems I've been getting in a lot of busted/beat up hulls in here lately, to tell the truth I'm gettin tired of working on rotten boats, but work = money. Anyhow, I had this guy give me a call about his boat, it is another monster, I didn't measure it, but it is at least 20' long, 5'-6" wide on the floor and real tall sides. Problem was all the ribs were broken, someone had done work on this boat before and had done a poor job of welding/repairing it. It was also split along the middle of the hull lengthwise toward the front where it starts to curve up, at least 2' long crack, geez. I tell the guy rewelding the breaks is not gonna do a thing, it needs to be reinforced with some kind of material, c-channel, angle, something, he agreed. We decided to brace it up with 2x2x1/4 angle. I first had to grind off old welds in places then reweld the factory ribs to the floor, I then rewelded the broken ribs, then welded the angles to the factory ribs for extra support. After all that was complete we used my monorail to lift it off the trailer and turn it sideways to fix the bottom cack. While it took some time to do, It is a useable boat again. I used my spoolamatic wire feed mig gun on this project after it was all said and done, we wound up putting 11lbs of weld on this boat!
