Does shaft length on a transom mount trolling motor make a difference? I understand that with a bow mount, longer is better, especially with windy conditions.... is the same true with transom mount? Will a longer shaft on the transom improve performance in rough conditions?

transom trolling motors are adjustable the length is more important on a bow mount due to the bouncing
of the front of the boat and keeping the motor head in the water
nothing really gained by having the motor deeper in the water on either end of the boat as long as it stays under water

I like to adjust is as shallow as I can get without cavitation when a wave passes

Thanks guys, gonna be picking up a new TM tomorrow... Andy, my seat will be at bench level.
