I am looking for the old style steering wheel and drum for the rope/cable steering system need for a 1962 lone star Malibu, others may work please let me know what you have........

Thanks
John

Yes i am looking on ebay too if ya see one let me know please and pics to come......

John, how much of the steering mechanism do you have ?
do you need the whole entire setup or just the drum ?
This photo is mostly what you need to get going plus the springs and clamps.
Have you ever had cable steer before ?????? Where are you located ?

Marine Engine has the drum for $9.00.
If you need the entire steering rig, you will have to piece it all together
with a part from here and there........... or, pay $252.00 for the complete kit.

Let me know what parts you just can't find - - - I have quite a collection
of cable steer hardware that I have collected over the years.

.

I have all the parts except the steering wheel , shaft and drum, and yes i have cable steering on my 1959 lone star eldorado, I am in WV...

Thanks for all your help i keep on looking

I have one, but I'm using it on my 1962 Malibu. I had to replace the steering wheel itself since the old one was too far gone to repair, but luckily all the other components were fine. If you purchase the drum that Johnny linked to, I can't imagine a shaft would be too difficult to source; I replaced my wheel with the one linked below and it looks pretty good:

I would also like to second the request for a build thread; I'd love to follow your progress.
