boat is looking great. what did you end up using for your starter wires? i remember my first boat... 1432 polarcraft... after 3 years it was way to crowded with just me in it lol.
A new set of points and condensers would be in order now that you have the flywheel off. They are located under a cover around the crank. They can be the cause of your no start issue.
man i am really lovin your build. have the same lowe hull but with two bench seats. (2nd one removed by po) i have had the exact same switch panel in mine now for 8 years and have never had a lick of trouble. keep up the good work.
60hp power head, on a jet is equivalent to a 40hp outboard. either it was a dealer conversion, a rebuild using a donor power head, or the factory got sloppy with the mod/serial# tag. most likely dealer conversion.
you should be able to adjust your mixture for the elevation changes with a knob right by the choke and kill button. I had a 64 johnson/evinrude 18 hp. great motors. as mentioned most parts are avail from dealer.
I had the same setup on my first boat. 18hp johnson on a 14" jon. i ran the 9 1/4x11 and switched back to a 9x10. see if your local evinrude dealer will let you use a test prop or an inductive tach and see what rpm' s your engine is turning. it may be that the prop is not allowing the engine...
