    16' Bass Tracker makeover **** Finished *****

I pretty much finished my boat a little over a month ago and just realized I forgot to update this thread. So far it fishes great and has been playing hell on the local trout, bass and panfish populations. I thought this project out pretty well from the start and it paid off. So far the boat is...

    16' Bass Tracker makeover **** Finished *****

The paint in Parkers Duck Boat paint in Hunters Green. I thinned the first 2 coats at 10% then the second 2 were applied unthinned. It sprayed fine unthinned through my Harbor Freight gun.

    16' Bass Tracker makeover **** Finished *****

Work and family obligations have severly limited my boat work time, but heres an update. We got the ply cut for the front storage compartment as well as the framing in. All the framing will be 1"x 1/8" aluminum, the 1/16th is just in there temporarily: All the floorboards and the plywood...

    Rod Holders?

I have always used the bolt on FIshOn rod holders. they are very stout even when holding rods that have a Flasher/Dipsey Diver outfit or are clipped into my downriggers (i.e they hold salmon rods under sigificant load just fine).

Looking for the absolute best way to remove paint

JRHOADES20 Most well stocked auto parts stores have it as does pretty much any auto paint supply house. It runs $25-35 per gallon and needs to to go on thick and stay wet. Lots of guys will wrap saranwrap or sheet plastic over it after application to slow evaporation. On mine i just used my...

My 1986 15 Foot VALCO Mini Bass Boat Build

Wishbone Your right she has seen some better days, but that is a killer hull and trailer for the price you paid and the drive time to get it. those are some seriously stout boats. It sounds like your well on your way to patching her wounds and making her fit for duty again. great job so far...

    New to TinBoats.net

I had a 1966 Lonestar 14'er for years, **** good boats. on mine the seam that you indicate has leaks had a rubber seal just like who10 says. I bucked my rivets the rolled a good coating epoxy on it and painted it up. It never leaked again in the 5 years or so i had that boat. I used Coat-It for...

    Camo boat motor

i have always put a Macs River Runner on all of my outboards as we duck hunt alot in rivers and shallow deltas. I have never felt i lost any speed or handling to them nor have my paddle wheel son my fishfinder ever shown a loss of speed after install. They are pretty much standard fare here...

    Aluminum Pitting

If the prep work is done properly (wire brushing and wiping with a good degreaser) and the hull scuffed up a bit so the steelflex has some tooth to grip you will be fine. Remember epoxy wont bond well on surfaces with oils or nothing to grip. Epoxies in general are very tolerant in...

    16' Bass Tracker makeover **** Finished *****

Its been a while since i updated this or put any pictures up, so heres where it stands now. I cut and glued the 2 pieces of 5/8" plywood for the new transom then coat both faces and all edges in Marine Systems Epoxy. I think it turned out pretty good. After the new transom piece was dry i...

    PAINTING ?

I dont really have an answer to that as most of us paint our boats and fix blinds through the summer and dont really use the boats till fall for ducks. Mine is gonna be all painted hopefull in the next week or two after a rotten transom popped up, so mine will be at about 2 weeks post paint...

    First project

hard to guess a year or make on it but i would hazard a guess that it is a 1436 (14' long 36" bottom width) sides arent really high but with some caution would make a good duck boat. your 9.8 will move it fine but not warp speeds. and for $150 its a good price.

    PAINTING ?

It should work, as you dont really need much pressure or CFM to run an hvlp. just take your time and when the compressor comes on stop and take a few swigs of your beer. we have done 7 boats now in the Parkers with a cheapie $20 Harbor Freight gun. We thin at 10% with mineral spirits and put...

    Aluminum Pitting

get the pits wire brushed out, wiped with a good quality degreaser and fill to level with steelflex. let it harden and sand em down level with the metal and proceed with your planned 2 coats of steelflex. You will be just fine, ask me how i know..........
