This has definitely been a learning experience. I've also realized that it should be a long shaft on this tin boat instead of the short shaft. Any suggestions on lining up the water feed tube, etc is always appreciated.

I didn't even think about greasing the impeller. So looks like I'll need to get another one.

But now it's looking like I need to tear it apart again. Went deeper on the water and still nothing. I'll dismount the motor so I can get a better look up inside the leg.

I replaced the cap and housing because of that. There were marks and it was melted in.

Here's the comparison of the old and new impellers. Going to try going deeper in the water.

No broken ears, just a seriously worn out and overheated impeller. I'll take pics of it tomorrow morning. I can try deeper water but I doubt that will change much.

I checked and the telltale is clear. Looks like I'll be tearing it down again to find the issue. 30 seconds in the "tank" and nothing. Premix settled so it's smoking heavier than usual.

I'll double check. But I doubt it. All the work has been done while the motor was still on the transom, sitting in the driveway.

Thanks, before replacing the water pump, it would start flowing in 15-20 seconds. I've never worked on an outboard motor before so I thought I should double check.

So I changed the impeller, gaskets etc. Then had to change the leaking fuel pump to get it to start. Pumped and primed, it started almost immediately. After about 15 seconds of running nicely, no telltale. I could swear that I've got everything lined up and seated correctly. Am I being paranoid...

    POST YOUR PIC'S FISHING GALLERY.......

Usually with a baited ring or pot. Also castable traps. Dungeness are the main, but we also have Red Rock, and the invasive Green Crab. Crawdads are in most creeks and rivers.

Yep. Got the pots a little out of place and had to chase them down, they were headed out to sea.

Only one of a fish, but Dungeness crab are fairly common on the Oregon coast.

    Mirrocraft seat modification

Thanks. I'm just getting annoyed fighting crab traps on and around the seats. There's never more than two of us in the boat, but that means six traps. I've thought about building a platform up front, but worry about stability.

    Mirrocraft seat modification

Hi guys, I've gotten everything basically running for crabbing and fishing the bays. The only downside is the middle bench seat makes it a pain with the pots. I'm running a 1978 Mirrocraft 14' with a 25 hp. Is there anything that can or needs to be done to remove the center bench? There's...
