    Bass season opens THIS WEEKEND!

I thought the smallie season opens THIS weekend (May 15)?! At least that's what I've been told by a few guys at work. I guess I may be on the border between the northern and southern zones AND the "ceded territories" (whatever that means). I'll be headed up to my favorite piece of the Chippewa...

    Catfishing...a new life

Check your local laws on this. In some states drop shot rigs are illegal. If it IS legal I'd also think about using a palomar knot instead of the overhand/lark's head combination as described. I'm willing to bet that the palomar is stronger.

Lowrance HDS side imaging and structure scan?

I've read of LOTS of failing sonars from Lowrance and a customer service department (except one person) that won't stand behind their customers in a timely fashion. Personally, I'd consider myself lucky that I had only one bad sonar out of the arsenal and use the opportunity to start switching...

    Rivet-Nuts anyone?

We always called them "nutserts" when I used them and we didn't use a riveter. We had drills specifically for installing them that had a special chuck with a hardened steel threaded rod for a bit. You just threaded them on until the chuck was against the nutsert and gave it another squeeze to...

Panicking at size of boat needed! Talk me down, please.

This is what I thought immediately, too. If you have a two-stall garage you have two stall widths of driveway space. The boat goes in the garage and your car/truck goes outside, right in front of it. I have a 1448 mod-V and I had to bribe two of my students to come over and help me move it...

    net neutrality scare

Now THAT is a good explanation. I realize that, historically, decisions have been made by people with a huge conflict of interest caused by campaign contributions. I'm hoping, and thinking, that this will be a case where there's enough momentum behind neutrality that it will win in the end...

    net neutrality scare

eh. It's laced with a cynicism about government taxing the internet that is unwarranted. The government has paid providers BIG bucks for laying down the fiber that connects our country. How dare they try to collect on that investment when the ISPs haven't provided a fraction of the bandwidth...

    Got the [new] truck fever

Indeed. Probably a good time to move on and let the dealership mess with that thing. Electrical problems suck.

    Got the [new] truck fever

Is your current truck costing you money in maintenance? I don't understand why you would even think of picking up a brand new vehicle, and its payments, when your current vehicle isn't costing you more in maintenance than the payments on a new one.

    New PB WI smallies

Things have REALLY slowed down here in the past week. I was gone on active duty for two weeks and came back to some pretty cold temps. Catching for numbers seems to be a lost cause, but I guess I'm finding some size, even if I'm down to a fish or two every 3 hours. Both of these caught on the...

    BBQ Smokers

Thanks for these links. Just got married and we're hosting Thanksgiving for both families  We definitely don't have enough oven space and my grill is too small to do a decent bird. I've been looking into the flower pot smokers, but a used Brinkman Gourmet is cheap on Craigslist. Now I...

    Flu Shot

Same here. I'd rather not take it. In fact, I don't want to get it, but they're shooting us all up next weekend.

    mapper

so maybe i'm not getting something here, but what's the difference between this and normal google maps or google earth? I see it gives you straight line distance to the nearest towns, but that's the only extra thing. I suppose the fact that it actually uses the whole screen is kind of nice, though.
