    How to rebuck rivets?

You hit from the mushroom side and the steel plate goes on the other side that needs to be flattened. Make sure you do a strike at a time or if you are using the air hammer tool to do little spirts so you can see how much you have done with the rivet.

Hey everybody, I dont know if I will ever be done with this project but I think I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. I am needing to locate the parts to install on my engine for the steering system. My local marine store that works on all boats but specializes in Johnson said it...

    Livewell timer

With all of the research that I have found there were a couple of areas that needed attention. O2- For obvious reasons the fish need fresh Oxygen introduced into the water. This amount will change depending upon the size of the tank or livewell. The longer the water is stagnet, the longer it...

    Rivet bucking

the correct way of doing buck rivets is to have the correct air rivet die for the size of buck rivet you are using. On the other side you can use just about any piece of solid metal such as a hammer, 5lb hammer, steel plate.

I am very frustrated with outboard mechanics right now

You guy's are so awesome you have no idea!!!! Tonight I took the exhaust water jacket housing and the inner housing off tonight to see if the parts guy was correct. He stated he is almost certain there was a hole in the inner plate that was allowing water into the cylinders. Well there are no...

I am very frustrated with outboard mechanics right now

Ok, I purchased a 1974 50hp Johnson which I thought was going to be a GREAT addition for me and my family to have hours of fun pushing our family boat on the water! I have no idea why they are soooo expensive in the begining but they sure depreciate just like anything else in the automotive...

    Input on a 40 HP Mercury Serial # 4362569

Ok everybody, so the bass boat that I rebuilt from the ground up is 90% complete. We took it out on the lake this past weekend and I was happy with everything except one crucial problem. The motor just could not handle the weight of the boat gear and family. We could only get up to 10 mph tops...

My 1986 15 Foot VALCO Mini Bass Boat Build

clarkbre, Thanks for your concern as I am well aware of water calculations. As a Fire Captain for the Fire Dept for 15 years, 9 of my 15 years on the Dept was the engineer of the fire truck, I am very much aware of weights and measures. The boat being all welded could definately handle...

My 1986 15 Foot VALCO Mini Bass Boat Build

Good catch, Actually I cannot take the credit for the system I have to thank russ010 for that. What we have here are two complete air rating systems. The system with the yellow system is bringing in fresh water and is for the winter when the water temps are cool for the fish. the second system...

My 1986 15 Foot VALCO Mini Bass Boat Build

Ok, to give a little history of what I did to it. The bottom of the boat had TAR on maybe a quarter of the bottom. I stripped all of it off so I could see where the holes were. The damage was not nearly as bad as the TAR made it look like which was a relief. So some of that water is coming from...

My 1986 15 Foot VALCO Mini Bass Boat Build

Mallardaddict, Thanks, Yes she had been in serious battle. I did a lot of welding, molding, hammering, fiberglassing to really hurk up the back end in preperation for the 50 HP motor I look to get in a couple of months, who knows. I still have to do some bodo work so I can smooth out anything...

My 1986 15 Foot VALCO Mini Bass Boat Build

Here you see the brand new Transom I built from scratch. It is Fiber Glassed and epoxy resigned the entire transom. I wanted to really beef up this area so I can make plans for the near future to throw a 50 HP motor on the back of it with no problems. I also put on Diamond Plate on the rear so...
