It looks like in the old pictures it had a false floor . That would ad strength and you would need it with 40 horse on it.

Bimini for narrow beam boat
I use PVC t joint that slides on to my seat pole then use a straight pipe then a 90 elbow . That way I can spin it to where I need it.

This is why you dont use pressure treated wood!!!
WIRE BRUSH IT GOOD CLEAN WITH ACID. YOU COULD THEN CUT A NEW PIECE & USE AUTOMOTIVE PANEL BOND TO GLUE IT ON TO OLD PIECE.
