tiller steering effort how much is normal?

I'm operating a tiller powered boat for the first time and it's working out fine except that the steering effort is very high, so high in fact that after about 3 days of fishing on Baptiste my left arm was having major fatigue. I have a new 25 hp 2 stroke on a 14' Grizzly jon boat with a...

    Mounting a 25hp Yamaha

I mounted my new Yamaha 25hp to my Grizzly Tracker which does not have any wood on the transom for the motor to rest against. The Yamaha has a couple of pointed bosses on motor support that now rest against the aluminum transom and actually keep the whole engine support from completely sitting...

Should I bolt My Motor On?

I mounted my 25hp Yamaha 2 stroke to my Jon the other day, I noticed that 2 holes are provided to allow the motor to be directly bolted to the transom in addition to the screw clamps. I have already installed the safety chain, do you guys recommend using bolts also?

Filled in my Jon boat floor

I wanted to make the floor in my Jon flat, I was worried about tripping or slipping on it the way it was. I didn't want to give up and depth or as little as possible, so what I did was get a sheet of Styrofoam insulation 1 1/2 " thick same as the boat ribs, this pink stuff is very dense and you...

Check Out My New Seat Mounts!

I'm real happy with my new seat mounts and I thought I'd share. I bought the kits from Bass Pro and riveted them to the bench using 1/4" structural rivets. It feels really solid. This mount allows you to completely remove the seat and use the platform for fishing.

PT Decking for Jon Boat Floor

One of the first projects I'd like to do on my jon boat is to put a floor down, it has ribs about every 14 inches and is almost flat. I have some new pressure treated 1 x 6 left over from a decking project, is this a good way to go, I would leave a little bit of a gap between the boards so air...

    Here is My New Boat!

I'm not sure how long it's been since I've been this excited about something so I had to show it off. So far all I have done is added the seats and pedestals but there is lots more to come. I'm still looking for a motor, I'm leaning towards a 2 stroke 25 hp, the max the boat is rated for!

    Pedestal install

My Tracker Grizzly is coming with two pedestal mounts, one in the center of the rear bench and the other on the bow platform, I'm not sure what style of pedestal they take, if anyone knows please post what type they are. I do want to add at least another on the bench seat so that I can operate...

    Charging system, how important?

I'm sorry if this is a dumb or over done question but I have never set up a boat who's sole function will be fishing. I'm looking for a tiller motor and I am wanting to know the importance I should place on the motor having a charging system. I'm not sure if these charging systems are sufficient...

Determining necessary hp for new Grizzly

I'm starting to keep an eye out for a out board for my new Grizzly 1448 AWL, the boat weighs in at a hefty 440 lbs according to Trackers web site. I will be rigging with seats, trolling motor, battery etc. and will usually have 1 or 2 people on board. It is a modified V hull and will primarily...

    Successful Used Outboard Buying

Like I mentioned in another post I have purchased a 1448 Tracker Grizzly my intention is to resist those beautiful new 4 strokes with power trim and electric start ( I didn't even now you could get a tiller with power trim) and buy a used motor. I have to say it scares me a bit buying used, I...

New Here Bought a Grizzly Need Trailer Ideas

Hello all Stumbled across this very cool forum for Tin boats by accident while looking for Jon boat info.
