    mod v speeds

Mines a 1654 and I usually hit 31 at 6000 with my 40hp that is geared 2:1 and a 10.5 x 13p prop. Sounds like you need a new prop.

    Minnkota Ipilot

I got my Ipilot installed on my Riptide ST. That thing is amazing. Best 400 I have spent on the boat. The electronic anchor function alone is worth the price.

Turbo Hot Shot or Stiletto Triad II Prop Question

Anybody ever run a Turbo Hot Shot or a Stiletto Triad Stainless Prop? I'm still hunting performance with my 40HP Merc 4 stroke and am looking for some opinions. Do the smaller motors benefit from SS props for performance or is it just durability gains? Any help would be appreciated.

    Tracker Grizzly 1648 or 1754?

I have a 1654sc and it is fantastic. They did get a bad rap when they first started doing welded hulls but seem t have it sorted out now. I bought the last year of the 1654 and feel the 54 bottom adds a lot in stability. Pm me if you want and I would be willing to discuss over the phone.

Fastest you have been in your tin boat?

Best I've seen by myself was 32.8 and 31 with 2 people. Usually its more like 29-30. The good news is that its super fuel efficient and quiet since its a 4 stroke. My cruising speed is 21-23 for best efficiency.

Farthest you have been in your tin boat ???

My lowrance he's has a tripmeter for the current day and totals. I just got it last summer. Furthest day was right at 20 miles and avg is about 15. I was surprised that I went 280ish miles last summer. I have a friend who has the tiller version of my boat with a 25hp on it. He and a...

    New trolling motor.

The motorguide Tour's are nice but I'm a Minn Kota guy.

Help! Can Merc 20 push a Tracker 1448 SC respectably?

That thing runs great. I have a friend with a 1654 Tiller and has a 25 on it. Best he can get out of it is 19. Width is great for stability but sure kills speed. Heck my 1654SC with a 40 4 stroke will only hit 31 with 2 people and a load and I've worked to get that. Yours runs very well. Tom

    3.5 HP on a 14th (& texas registration issue)

Even the 3.5 will be way faster than a 50lb trolling motor. Hull speed usually takes 150-200lb of thrust. The Minn Kota edrive motors are rated 2HP and supposed to be actually 2.4HP so this should peg the hull speed but I agree no planing. Tom

    Homemade jack plate?

I have the 1654SC version of the boat. That sounds like exactly what I have for the plate. I'm using the rapid jack version, I think they have a cheaper one that adjust differently. Mine is really easy to adjust. I was running the motor even with the cavitation plate even with the bottom...

    Homemade jack plate?

I have a 1654SC myself and put a 6" setback Rapid Jack jackplate and it is great. It helped the boat and definitely allows the motor to be higher for shallow water. Tom

    Cabela's bunk guide ons

I know this is kind of old, but I figured it might help someone anyway. I don't know if mine are the low profile or not, but I definitely have the ones from Cabelas and they are great. Makes loading the boat super easy. Tom

    Fulton Swing Away Trailer Tongue

That's what I figured. I have a friend in MN that has one on his trailer and it's for a Lund deep V style aluminum boat with an 80HP 4 stroke yamaha. I'm sure it weighs much more than our setups and he's never had issue with it in about 7 years. I know we are way under the 3500 lb rating for...

    Fulton Swing Away Trailer Tongue

Looks great. I bought the same kit but I still need to install it. Do you like the quality of it? Tom

    TRAILER TONGUE

If that's the case then you probably don't need to add 5.5' to it. Mine only has about 3.5' in front of the post. You could even put a Swing away tongue kit on it to attach an extension. The Fulton ones are designed to have 3' out in front of the hinge. I'm going to install one on mine and...

    TRAILER TONGUE

If it was made for an 8' and yours is 14', I would think you are close since there's 6' difference. You may need to look at moving the axle forward to keep the balance good. Seems like just adding 6 foot to the front and leaving the axle where it is would lead to a heavy tongue. If I were...

What switch panel are you using?

I'm using one from Seasense. I don't think it's a Bass Pro one, but I bought it from Bass Pro. It has sealed rockers and circuit breakers instead of fuses. It was about $45 for a 6 switch panel. So far so good, but it's only been in for a month. Tom

    Some pics for Tracker Tom

That's a great looking rig. Very clean looking work in the back on all the plumbing and electrical. I should probably make a cover for the back area like you have. The boat looks great. I'd been very tempted to try a jack plate myself but a manual one. I had found one on another forum for a...

Help! Can Merc 20 push a Tracker 1448 SC respectably?

Wow, width is definitely a trade off on these boats. It gives stability, but kills speed. My boat is a 54" floor and takes 40HP to run 30MPH with 1 person and I read all the time about 46-48" floor boats running 25 with only 25HP.
