Boat moves side to side on trailer

The dealer wanted me to empty the boat (it's hunting season so all my gear is in it) and pull the motor before they'd touch it, so I did some research on bunk adjustment and did it myself. What you described is basically what I followed. It no longer moves. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using...

Boat moves side to side on trailer

After a lot of reading and talking to a couple guys, the general consensus seems to be the bunks are mis-adjusted. Since the boat is only 2 weeks old, I'm going to take it back to the dealer and have them do the adjustments. I shouldn't have to mess with a brand spankin' new boat and trailer...

Boat moves side to side on trailer

You can tilt them either direction. They appear to be tilted slightly inward. As for how they're currently adjusted, I can't comment. I will check when I get home. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Boat moves side to side on trailer

They do adjust for angle. The boat only moves an inch or two in either direction. It was enough for me to notice though. I do have loading guides. They're adjusted about 2inches out from the hull when it's centered. I thought about moving them in more... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Boat moves side to side on trailer

I also noted in the Alumacraft handbook I got when I bought the boat, it said the bunks were supposed to stick out an inch past the transom. Mine are currently flush. Is that going to cause problems? *edit* Picture of handbook. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Boat moves side to side on trailer

2017 Alumacraft MV1648 NCS. 2017 Karavan trailer. With the boat strapped down tight (winch and bow strap, 2 individual transom straps) I can slide it side to side on the trailer. Surely this can't be right.... none of my other boats moved on the trailer. Is this just the case of my dealer...

'79 Johnson 35hp tiller purchase.... things to check before

I'm looking at picking up a '79 Johnson 35hp. I'm mechanically inclined, but most of my experience is with cars and trucks. What should I check prior to laying cash on the table for the motor? Obvious things to check: -Starts easily and runs - Compression (hopefully he'll let me hook up a...

Looking for prop explanation, not just answer

I guess my biggest question right now is how do I move forward without spending what I assume would be hundreds testing different props? I greatly appreciate all the input you guys have offered. I love learning how this stuff works and it's all making more sense with every post.

I didn't mean any offense by my reply! I've just always been one who likes understanding how things work. Please keep me posted on the 4 blade prop! I'm curious as to your results. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Looking for prop explanation, not just answer

This is more so the information I was looking for. Thank you very much! I just didn't know how to phrase the question. I did use the prop calculator. One issue is I don't know how specifically much my gear weighs, but I estimated it out and it recommended a 9X9 prop. I asked that they contact...

Post a Pic of your boat!

New 2017 Alumacraft MV1748 NCS. Spent all last week working on getting her rigged up after work so I could get out and hunt this past weekend. Very, very happy with the boat thus far. I no longer get the snot beat out of me in a chop like I did with my old flat bottom. Definitely needs a bigger...

MV 1648 NCS Sierra turned into a poor mans bass boat

    Fuel tank

I just bought a new plastic tank from cabelas since my old OMC metal tank was corroding on the interior and my fuel filter was catching all kinds of crap. My new tank is an Attwood. I haven't had any issues with it. I crack open the fill cover when running the boat or storing in my garage...

Looking for prop explanation, not just answer

Alright. I picked up a 2017 Alumacraft MV1648 NCS and I LOVE it. It's incredible the difference in this boat vs my previous flat bottom. Anyway, I threw my 1989 2 stroke evinrude 15hp tiller on the boat. 2 guys plus hunt load trimmed out correctly and I'm traveling 18.9 mph at 6200 rpms. I...
