    1987 Alumacraft Super Bandit Restoration

Another update on progress. Had a pretty nice day yesterday so I decided to finish the paint. Just needed to do the bow and top rail and just below rail on inside for where the carpet will not cover. Did the bow and had just a bit of the red left over so decided to paint the rear corner caps...

Hey guys, I have a question on thread type. During my restoration project I put a new transom in. It must be about 1/2" taller than the old rotted one was. This is where my problem lies. I have a new johnson livewell pump and the flat portion of the intake does not mate up to the transom...

    Battery venting?

I ended up getting some 2" round vents with louvers and screens on them. I will put one one each upper corner. Should allow enough ventilation for batteries. At least while charging

    1987 Alumacraft Super Bandit Restoration

New seats showed up today and carpet was shipped today. Ordered both through bassboatseats and seemed to be a decent price. Not really ready for the seats but i need the carpet so that i can put a piece down on the floor before getting the console secured in place. But it is pretty cool to...

    Battery venting?

Ok. So basically as long as there is any type of vent? Because it will also be used as a step, it will be lower than the deck so would not be catching any fresh air while on the water, and obviously nothing happening while parked and charging. I will look for something then that will at least...

    Battery venting?

Yesterday I went and bought two new group 27 batteries. (lead acid) I plan on putting them basically midships on my boat to help with weight distribution as there will be a group 31, 14 gal gas tank, onboard charger, livewell plus the outboard all in the back already. Plan is to build a box...

Thanks. I have done a few smaller things. This was the first time painting something of this magnitude. It turned out pretty good. LOTS and LOTS of prep. I had never been so tired of sanding in my life. Even though pretty much every last part of the boat will be brand new, I tried to stick...

    1987 Alumacraft Super Bandit Restoration

Thanks guys. Its been a fun and frustrating process. It's not like working on a car or something. I did not realize how much forethought needs to go into a lot of this. I have learned the hard way that you can't finish one thing without looking ahead to make sure there isn't something else...

    1987 Alumacraft Super Bandit Restoration

Hey everyone, new here but thought I would join up and share my restoration with anyone that may be interested. I have done a lot of searching on this site in the past for reference on my project and it has helped me out, so I figured why not post some of mine as it just may help someone else...

Maybe I got it figured out. Hopefully these pics show up. So, just a few photos. Showing what I started with. Boat wasn't in terrible shape but not great. Had a few leaks and the wiring was a disaster to say the least. Started out as just wanting to fix a few of the issues, then turned...

Would anyone be so kind as to share how to post pics? I obviously have no idea what I am doing. Tried the images button that then wants a URL. Do pics need to be online somewhere first?

Hey all, new to forum. I guess I signed up here at some point in the past. First post. I have a 1987 Alumacraft Super Bandit with a 1987 70hp Yamaha 2 stroke. I am currently in the process of a complete restore. I have been deployed for the last year so I have just been ordering parts and...
