Paint question. Color showing up during sanding?

You're boat looks good. The reason for the bottom coat is Salt water. Most of its time it'll be in the Indian River so that extra barrier will help with corrosion. And the airboat coating will resist the damage beaching will do.

Paint question. Color showing up during sanding?

Yeah. I'm going to paint above the line white with the same paint. Below the line is going to wait until it becomes my full project (floor, pour foam, console for remote steer motor) and I'm currently thinking about using the bottom coating for airboats, since I do beach it on islands in the...

Paint question. Color showing up during sanding?

That looks pretty good LaqueRatt. Have you found there is much of a difference between brands of closed cell rollers? Here are a could pictures of where there is still some of the original paint. And here is a picture of what my quick paint job looks like. I'll probably paint above the line...

Paint question. Color showing up during sanding?

Thank you all for the replies. I've been extremely busy with work this week. I just painted an area big enough for the numbers and safety decal. After reading the replies, I'm thinking that the underlying blue color is whatever Southwestern (I think that's the manufacturer) used on the bare...

Paint question. Color showing up during sanding?

I'm going to start off with a short back story. I bought my 1960 Arkansas Traveler and it had the registration numbers painted on the boat. There is some whitish paint with black letters. Cool I don't have to worry about stickers coming off. I get checked by FWC after fishing yesterday and...

I recommend you check out Tiny Boat Nation on YouTube. They have some really good videos. They're geared to making small making small fishing boats out of tin cans but a lot of the info applies to restoration too, like using pour foam and sealing wood. My original plan was to do a boat like...

    Confessions of a Total Doofus

I'm sure you've gotten practice and are better at docking now but I have to ask (and kinda surprised no one else said anything). Why were you at the bow trying to grab the pier when the motor running? You're using a tiller, so you're at the stern and that should be the first line you tie off...

Did you get it figured out yet? I've got a '99 Yamaha 15 4 stroke and need to get a tach to get the right prop.

Balancing a 12ft Jon Boat well with oversized Outboard motor (20hp)

What you are wanting to do with the tiller extension isn't going to work like you want nor will it be safe. The whole thing has to rotate so the part going around your body will be rotating as well and would hit you at open throttle. And you can't jump into the back to change gears in an...

Owned for 25 years and never got to take it out.

You could put a sub floor in, even with the bottom of the seats and put the floatation foam under it. Get some 5-7" pedestals and seats. Then turn the rest of the seats into storage, hatches in the wood or flip up. That will give you the safety of the foam, storage, some good even fishing...
