    Outboard service center

Anyone know of a good outboard service center around lake Lanier? I'm wanting to see about having my little Johnson Seahorse 3 reassembled. I don't really have the time to mess with it.

Doing any projects over the off season?

Just before it got too cold I put new lights on the trailer (ones that came on it weren't submersible) and rewired the trailer. My trailer was made for a V-hull boat and since then I've adjusted all the rollers so they actually touch the bottom of the boat. I've also redone the winch tower thing...

    What a find!

Awesome! I've got my great grandfather's '57 Seahorse 3 sitting in the garage. It's all in pieces now because I have to install a new piston (one of them froze). Can't wait to get it back together in the spring and get that thing running again.

    Boat insurance.

Progressive At only $100 a year I couldn't really justify not having it. Covers the boat and trailer. I'm more scared of other people causing damage to me, just being cautious. I'm even covered to 75 nautical miles off shore. Somehow I don't think my little 1432 would do all that well that far...

    WOW THIS STINKS!!!!!

Mine doesn't have one either, but my registration has the hull number on it so I think I'll engrave it somewhere. I'm guessing it was on the transom at some point and it's not the original transom.

Need help, strange holes in transom

    Not bad at all.

Need help, strange holes in transom

If your transom is just a flat sheet of aluminum and nothing special like mine, and if you're going to go through the trouble to piggyback a new piece in there, I'd just have a shop cut the whole thing out and replace it with a new piece. Whereabouts are you located?

Definitely corrosion. How extensive is it?

    NEW MEMBER....PICTURES SOON!

I mentioned one before and I think it was Brine who said the locals had been threatening to have one but never have. FWIW, I tried to fish Tribble Mill this past weekend and it's so overgrown with stuff you can hardly use your trolling motor anywhere. It's grown up so high the lake only looks...

    NEW MEMBER....PICTURES SOON!

Yes! When are we going to do this Ft. Yargo / Tribble Mill meet and greet?

    Now what?

I can understand your stability issue. I have a 1432. But ... it's not really that bad, and I'm a top heavy guy.

    Drift Socks

When I salmon fished in the Columbia River in Oregon with my great grandfather, we used a bucket with part of the bottom cut out.

    Now what?

For me, the sentimental value would outweigh all else.

More rivets leaked with water IN the boat.

I think I'm just going to leave my boat alone now. We took it out yesterday and I put more water in the boat with the paddle than was leaking in through the rivets. No sense tackling it again.

More rivets leaked with water IN the boat.

When we put the boat in the water last weekend, we found a few rivets that seeped. They weren't all that bad, so I wasn't really all that worried about them. Yesterday afternoon I decided to rebuck them so I filled the boat up with water. Just about every rivet on the bottom was leaking and the...

    Deck a 1432?

I've decided against decking it. Instead I put down some anti-fatigue floor mats.

    Deck a 1432?

Has anyone here decked a 1432? I took mine out today for her maiden voyage. And on a side note, I'm glad I ripped the carpet out because I found a few leaky rivets that need to be rebucked. Not bad for a 38-year-old boat though. When my wife and I got in the boat, the rivets stopped leaking...

    The magic carpet glue destroyer

I just used the scraper attachment that comes with it. It's about 1 1/2" wide. Worked perfectly - chiseled that glue right off. You have to be careful though not to let the pointed edge contact the aluminum though because it will knick it. The only problems I had with the tool are: 1. It's...

    OutBoard Service Repair manuals

Awesome - and you have the one I need. Looks like I need to up my post count, because I need that manual like now. I'm taking the motor apart today.
