    SmallieBigs 12' Sea King Project

I took the OB off after the test run last weekend and the wood on both sides of the transom was in bad shape, a fresh coat of paint can make garbage look good I guess. Oh well $200 for a boat and trailer I figured I'd be doing some work. I tore out the transom and found some carpenter ants...

Ban on Lead Bullets and using lead in weights / lures ?

Please explain how CO2 levels are at the all time highest since as far back as can be measured, which BTW includes a few ice ages in between, and have been on an unprecedented rise since humans began burning fossil fuels en mass. It's not a small sample either I don't know where you got that one...

Nice job on that boat man...looking sweet =D>

Ban on Lead Bullets and using lead in weights / lures ?

Bassboy1 those are not scientific studies. The first link you put up there is basically opinionated garbage. Please do yourself a favor and look up ice core studies, actual studies and not biased opinion pieces. They clearly show that CO2 levels and temperature are directly correlated AND they...

    Alumacraft 1648 (updated 9/13/11)

Awe man that was a sweet find on that tin!!! Great job on the trailer too; I'll be watching to see how the rest turns out for sure...

Ban on Lead Bullets and using lead in weights / lures ?

Zum you should be skeptical about such things, but the atmopheric gas levels and make up were determined from the collecting the air bubbles inside ice cores that were dated back to 400,000 years. By melting the ice they were able to unlock the trapped gasses and gain an accurate measurement of...

Ban on Lead Bullets and using lead in weights / lures ?

Yes I know the earth goes through cooling and warming cycles. Could you please direct me to any type of scientific data that says the massive amounts of green house gasses that humans emit has not sped up this process? I would really like to see it and I'll eat my words if it's legit. Studies...

Ban on Lead Bullets and using lead in weights / lures ?

Lead is toxic so why wouldn't a responsible outdoorsman want to find an alternative that is not toxic to people and animals? Conspiracy theories about the government doing this to unarm citizens??? Really???? I really hope you're not serious about this one because it's borderline certifiably...

    SmallieBigs 12' Sea King Project

HAHA Flying boat! I was in my uncles truck with him when I was about ten and we got passed by his boat going down a hill. Smashed up the bumper pretty good getting it to stop but didn't hurt the boat at all. I think he decided to use safety chains after that.... Yeah you're right it is...

    SmallieBigs 12' Sea King Project

I wonder if that's the same boat I have. It seems like it should be rated for more than 488lbs? Me and my son are about 300lbs together, 48 lbs of gas, 35 lbs battery, 30 lbs trolling motor, 30 lbs tackle box (guess), 30 lbs cooler = pretty darn close to the limit. I think I may just try to get...

    New Tin ?'s (PICS ADDED)

Either way you got a great deal on that 14' Starcraft, it looks like it's in great shape and ready for some mods! It will definitely feel more stable than the 1436. I just test drove my smaller 12' semi V with it's new to me 20hp OB and it's more stable than my friends 1436 and only a little...

    SmallieBigs 12' Sea King Project

Thanks for the reply thudpucker. I'm not sure what the rating of the boat is, but I was assuming that it's probably not more than 10 hp. It wouldn't be a problem to beef up the transom and add some more support. I was thinking of putting the gas tank and/or the battery for the trolling motor up...

    SmallieBigs 12' Sea King Project

Well I think I need a bigger boat now...I just bought an old but really clean Chrysler (West Bend) 20 hp short shaft tiller with a 6 gal plastic tank really cheap $150. It starts up easy in 1 to 2 pulls, shifts really smooth, and under the cowl it looks almost new. It definitely wasn't left...

    Modding my SeaKing 1242 Semi-V

Yup you are right, the bottom of yours is flatter than mine  I didn't look close enough. That boat with 12 hp motor should move along pretty good

    Modding my SeaKing 1242 Semi-V

Well since I just bought the same exact boat (minus your fixes) I am very interested in seeing what you come up with on this project. Awesome job so far =D>

Best screws for going into jon boat ribs.

So are the self tapper screws used for HVAC ducts or galvanized screws ok for aluminum? I have tool boxes and buckets full of these things.

    The Spoiled Under 30 Crowd

LMAO!!!!! =D> =D> =D> I was lucky, our phone was close enough to the stairs (with no railings BTW) that I could at least sit on the top of the stairs for a little privacy....
