    Fear the beard!

Never tried to grow a full beard when younger, it just wouldn't fill in. Thought I'd give it a shot again now that I'm 50, here's a couple months growth.

What should I que this weekend?

Thanks!! I'd appreciate any tips, I'll have to look into the brine idea as well. I love smoking turkey breasts then adding the meat to casserole recipes as it gives them a whole new flavor!

    Alumacraft 14 ft. Semi-V modification

Alan, If you look in the pics I posted of my T14 remake the front pedestal is 13" and feels very comfortable. I don't know if the 2" lower height would make that big of a difference or not.

    '84 Alumacraft T14-SF remake

Took it from this And made it look like this With a seat pole change you can run the trolling motor and cast the weedlines Battery is stowed front center for balance when fishing alone It turned out pretty good I think and it fishes nicely! Already put the livewell to use on a couple...

    Extending trolling motor wiring

I'm with Bob B, I go to Harbor Freight or Walmart and buy their cheap jumper cables, usually about 10'-12' long for about $10-$15 and cut the ends off. You have a nice red and black pair of wires for not much money.

Dustin's 14ft alumacraft conversion... lots of pictures!

I've got a cabin on Comstock lake, about 20 minutes north of Island Lake before you get to Whiteface. A buddy of mine has a place on Fish Lake so I fish that quite a bit with him. I also fish with some of the guys from the Minnowfaces.com site, they are a blast to hang out with and put on quite...

Dustin's 14ft alumacraft conversion... lots of pictures!

Nice project! I've got a little more wiring to do on mine then it can go back in the water. I typically fish the inland lakes though and haven't ventured near the St. Louis River or Lake Superior!

In line fuse for Minnesota kota

I had done some previous searches on trolling motor fuses and found a few posts where people recommended the Bussman Short Stop Auto reset 50 amp fuses. They're only about $5 - $8 each depending on what type of reset you want. Here's a link to an example...

carpeting custom plywood hatch doors...enough room?

I used the cheaper indoor/outdoor carpet from Menards in my boat project and allowed 1/8" for each edge it was wrapped around. I didn't sand the edges real round because I didn't want the seams of the hatches to be that visible, I just softened the sharp 90 degree edge a little. It turned...

    Minn Kota parts question

I've got a chance to get a Minn Kota 4WD AutoPilot 42 lb thrust bow mount trolling motor, but it doesn't come with a foot pedal or any wireless controls. The serial number starts with MKJG and I'm having troubles figuring out exactly what parts its missing. Any help appreciated.

New Stereo Questions for the electricly inclined...

I ran a Pioneer amp and four 6x9s in my '69 Buick and it would drain the battery in about three hours of listening time at a moderate listening level. Crank up the volume and you will drain things out quicker!

putting in a floor and/or deck question...

Attach the frame for your decking to the ribs on the bottom of the boat, then attach your flooring to the frame. Measure the depth of the framing and the height of the ribs, and make sure you allow for the fact that your screws may pull into the framing. You can pre-drill the holes, just mark...

    Thru the HULL Livewell pump

I mounted mine low on the transom, be sure to put a screen over the water side so you don't suck all kinds of gunk through the pump into your livewell!

    your honest opinions

I wouldn't deck the front or rear any higher than the current seats. It will be much more stable that way.

    IT folks

I work for the Univ of MN -Duluth IT department. Started back in '81 as a mainframe operator, punchcards and 9 track tapes were state of the art then! Huge 1MB disk platters were changed out as different users ran there programs. As mainframes diminished in the early '90s I was given the choice...

    Speed?

I thought the preffered setting is to put the cavitation plate on the same angle/plane as the bottom of the boat? Your picture makes it look like the motor is tilted down too much, the angle of the plate doesn't line up with the bottom of the boat. I think you're right to move it up one pin...
