If you haven't noticed already I not only sealed the floor joists with spar urethane, but I also painted them black. This way, when you open the storage hatches there's a finished black rim and black interior. </p><p></p><p>You can also see that I ripped down some 1/4" underlayment and applied it to the sides of the joists where the hatches would be.
