Just recently purchased my first Jon boat. It's a 2011 Lowe 1436 with a 2012 Mercury 15 four stroke. The boat will primarily be used for saltwater creek fishing in the winter time in the Big Bend area of Fl. The boat was in like new condition and pretty much bare bones with the exception of some new seats and a trolling motor. I mainly needed storage space to store all my safety gear paddles and anchor to keep out of the way of the floor. After reading several post on here of how to do this project I began framing it out. Used 1 -1/2" aluminum angle for the bracing and old street signs for the decking. All rivoted together with 3/16" aluminum rivots. Also made a bracket for the trolling motor since it was previously mounted to the stern. I will be installing army camo SeaDek to all the decking as soon as it comes in. In the future I plan on adding a floor as soon as a round up some more old signs.
