    Trailer wheels worth upsizing?

An upgrade that might be worth consideration is oil filled wheel bearings. No more worrying about packing bearings.

Need help2015 merc 60 40 four stroke jet with 56 hours.

Call an injector shop to see if they can clean the injectors. Also try a different tank and fuel line. What liner did they replace? The impeller liner or the jet pump liner? Are you greasing the bearing on the jet pump after every use?

What are they measuring in a Jon boat

Manufactures commonly round the length to whole number. So a 1448 might actually measure a few inches shorter than 14 ft.

Help with trailer and winch setup

It looks like whomever originally assembled the trailer didn’t read the instructions. Perhaps the winch could be mounted where the pulley is currently located.

Tip over a bull and it might break that pastime quickly.

Got it. I’ve never gotten into raising cattle that much but, it sounds similar to hypnotizing chickens.

    Filling old drill holes?

Sorry BoneDigger, I totally derailed your thread. Easy to do around here. :) Have you found a solution for the holes?

    I don’t get it.

    Filling old drill holes?

It adds a lot of strength with the proper mix of filler. Think of it as concrete versus grout.

    Filling old drill holes?

As I recall, even the JB Marine is iron based.

    Filling old drill holes?

West Systems does have some nice epoxy. I used quite a bit of it when laying up wings back when I could see well enough to fly RC planes. One thing that a guy learns real quick in that hobby is the use of epoxy fillers. Microballons, chopped fiberglass, carbon fiber and even balsa saw dust...

    Filling old drill holes?

Perhaps JB Weld no longer lists the filler material on the packages. They did a year ago. Hope I didn’t start this urban legend. If so, country folklore would be a better description. :) There is no urban in this old boy.

    Filling old drill holes?

JB Weld does bond surprising well.

    Filling old drill holes?

Of these three products I’d choose the last one, Marine Tex. Fuzzygrub’s idea of bucking rivets might be the best bet though.

    Filling old drill holes?

Don’t know, I was not testing this stuff in a controlled experiment. Perhaps it isn’t rusting because the filler is suspended in epoxy? The aluminum alloy could also have some influence. All that I can tell you is a year ago when I was considering JB Weld products to fix some holes in...

    Filling old drill holes?

Any JB Weld that I’ve seen has an iron based filler material. It could corrode the aluminum over time. If a guy could find a similar product with aluminum filler, it would probably be fine.

    What is this boat?

Well, I hope for GLF that this isn’t an issue.

    What is this boat?

Sounds like a great idea in an old ad. This may have actually been one of the first composite materials used in a personal boat. The only catch that I can see is if the foam is saturated with water. How do you fix it?

    Filling old drill holes?

Do you have a buddy with an aluminum capable MIG? They are fairly common these days. I guy could stick chewing gum in the holes if he wants to be cheap. Just don’t use JB Weld, it might look like aluminum but, it’s iron based.

    Filling old drill holes?

Common problem with used boats. Holes everywhere. If the aluminum is in good shape the holes could probably be TIG welded and sanded smooth.
