Raymarine is killing it with their Dragonfly series of fishing electronics. The Raymarine Dragonfly 7PRO is the biggest and brightest sonar of the Dragonfly series. The 7PRO is a full featured unit with all the bells and whistles and can be had for $500 or less. I think this unit would be great up front on the boat, or as the main unit for a small tin.

I think the Lowrance Hook2 might find itself on my boat. To be honest, I don’t want to spend allot of coin on a fishfinder. Secondly and more importantly I don’t want to spend hours learning how to use it. That’s my biggest turn-off about buying all these feature rich electronics. I just want to turn the unit on and have it work automatically.… ...Read More “Lowrance Hook2”

Check out the new Motorguide xi3. It will be available in 2018. The biggest points for me are the out of the box wireless control and their new Stow and Deploy mechanism. I’m not getting any younger, so anything to help me stow and deploy is a win in my book. Check out Motorguide’s link on the xi3. Thoughts on this trolling motor? Who has actual experience… ...Read More “Motorguide xi3”

I just read that Garmin is coming out with a new Camera called the Garmin VIRB 360. Looks like it’s going to have some neat features like 5.7k/30fps resolution and 4 built in microphones. That’s huge as we know the sound capture on what’s out there now is OK at best. One thing I saw on the website is that it can constantly record for more than 1 hour… ...Read More “Garmin VIRB 360”
The new Lowrance HDS Carbon Sweet 16 is all about excess. There is nothing really more to say. With a whopping price tag of around 5k it puts it in an elite group of snobby folks. The question to ask is when is it too much? Soon you will see some joker who has two of them side by side on his fancy rig. Is that what’s needed to fish competitive these days? To win? Seriously?… ...Read More “Lowrance HDS Carbon Sweet 16”
I really want to get my hands on on one of these Lowrance HDS Carbon units. Unfortunately they are out of my price range. These units go from 7 inch to massive 12 inch screens. Wow! Can you say overkill? Can you picture one of these units on a 14 foot Jon?
Ready for Battle.

I was doing some research to see what was available for shallow water anchoring when I ran across the Power-Pole Micro Anchor. What caught my eye right away was the low price of $595. This price is not cheap, but out of what is available out there, it looks like it’s half the price of its competitor. Because I’m not here to reinvent the wheel I literally… ...Read More “Power-Pole Micro Anchor”
