Re: Trailering g3 1548vbw

Before drilling any holes to bolt it on, I would take it out for a couple of test drives to see what motor height works best. Once you find that spot, drill the holes and bolt it on.

Re: Additives - Ring Free vs. StarTron?

I've been using the OMC Carbon Guard in my 94 Mercury jet and it seems to be running well. I've used SeaFoam in several cars, trucks and boats and you get a nice smoke show and they all seemed to run smoother afterwards. But I think any time we do anything to a vehicle or engine, we want to think it...

Re: Trailer measurement

Mine measures the same front and back. Do you have any pictures showing what it looks like? Mine has bolted brackets with the rear crossmember so I don't think it could get sucked in. If yours just has u-bolts then you might be able to adjust them.

Re: Convert from rollers to bunk?

I searched around on Ebay and found the brackets for a good price, got the u-bolts from Amazon I think and grabbed the vinyl downspout from Lowes and cut it in half. I sold the rollers and brackets for almost the same cost for the bunk stuff so it was a break even. You can see the bunks allow the bo...

Re: Convert from rollers to bunk?

I did last year and the boat sits lower on the trailer and actually loads easier since I have the bunk lined up to guide the boat better than the rollers did.

That layout would work great with a small forward center console like the Lowe console.

Re: weak reverse throttle

It sounds like there is too much slack so if you can tighten that up, it should help the reverse, the start up lever and even forward should come in sooner. If you go too far, when you shift to forward, it might rev too high for a low idle so you would need to back it off at that point.

Re: weak reverse throttle

Sounds like the throttle cable needs to be adjusted. I don't have my boat here right now so I can't look at it to say for sure but it sounds like it needs adjustment at the motor. Reverse has a limited range of throttle as does the start up lever. Forward has a large range so it might feel ok but th...

Re: Removable tunnel cover

I'm having trouble understanding what he's looking to do. Is he looking to run an inboard motor with a jet drive out the back, yet still be able to mount an outboard and run it that way as well? If so, I don't think that would be a removable tunnel. Once you install the inboard and jet drive, it wil...

Re: New bunks and bunk wrap

My bunks are 8 ft long and made from regular 2x4's. I covered them with polyurethane covers that were pre-formed to fit a 3 1/2 inch wide 2x4 exactly. Got them at Mikes Trailer supply in Homosassa Florida. You should be able to get them by you too. Yeah, that's probably the same stuff I used in the...

Re: WATCH OUT for E15 fuel

We don't have any marinas nearby so I've been using gas station gas for 30 years. I've never had a new motor so I've never worried about it too much. I know it will rot out the fuel lines from the inside so make sure you have a good filter and keep an eye on it. My boat stays out in the sun at a doc...

Re: Alumacraft or SeaArk?

I haven't seen an Alumacraft in person so I can't comment on them. But I've seen a couple of SeaArk boats and they are really solid. Definitely a step or 2 up from my Lowe and I would love to have a SeaArk 1660 but my budget doesn't allow for the upgrade from my Lowe. Maybe hang around your local ra...

Re: Mercury 35 jet

What shaft length does your boat take? I would guess the 2 stroke makes a little more power vs the 4 stroke. I have a Merc 60/45 2 stroke short shaft motor on my Lowe 1652 jet tunnel hull and it moves the boat pretty good. It's more than enough with just me in the boat but if I have 2 other people i...

Re: Awful wreck in my yard this morning

Wow, my guess is the driver was not paying attention and hopefully it wasn't a cell phone distraction. Regardless, it's scary as heck when someone can do something like this and ruin a bunch of lives. I don't want to guess what really happened but keep us filled in and thankfully you and your family...
