Re: Annoying transom rattle/vibration

‘foam rope or tubing’

That is backer rod. Made of closed cell foam.

Re: 14’ Lund deluxe floor replacement conundrum

Seamless is great for cosmetic reasons. But if you put the floor in sections it might pay off in the long run. You will thank yourself down the road if you ever have to pull it up for some reason. Say you want to run some wires. You can just remove the screws in that section and not have to go throu...

Re: Annoying transom rattle/vibration

Well, at least you know where the rattle is coming from. If the gap is big enough to dribble some goop down into it, maybe try pushing some appropriately sized foam backer rod material in first to see if that eliminates the rattle. I wouldn't force something in that would widen the gap. Cut the foam...

Re: Center of gravity

Interesting discussion about the center of gravity. If I understand what is being asked is at what point along the hull is the weight forward of the point equal to the weight aft of the point. That would be the balance point I think CRScooter is talking about. I've really never given that much thoug...

Re: Decided to go finesse

I prefer finesse/life like presentations. Produce better for me than swimbaits or other giant sized lures. I have to agree. Been a while since I targeted pan fish with light tackle. Last time was maybe 4 years ago and I knocked them dead using tiny trout magnet jigs. Many moons ago when I used to t...

Re: Why do fish strike lures?

When it comes to scent, I believe fish are super sensitive to algae stuck on our lures and not even bother nipping them. Anytime I troll a crankbait with even the least amount of algae attached anywhere between the line and lure, no bites - period. Nature made predator fish animal protein orientate...

So, would trolling a brined shad minnow be considered a lure or a bait? Maybe an "organic" lure. Haha

Re: trolling crankbaits to catch fish

No vibration = algae caught on the lure = no fish.

Smart observation.

Doubling up is always a good thing! Thanks for the report.

40 Pound Brown Trout

Saw this on another forum. Guy named Bill Babler from Missouri caught a 40 pound 6 oz brown at Lake Taneycomo in Branson. It was 41.25" and had a girth of 28 inches. It is a new state record and only two pounds off of the current world record caught in New Zealand. Previous state record was 34 pound...

Re: portable transducer mount

Scotty makes a transducer holder based on a similar concept to your homemade version. Theirs fits in one of their rod holders. You may be asking what this has to do with anything. Well, nothing I guess other than great minds think alike! Haha

Re: Opinions on Utility V-hulls

My two cents: Utility V. Go largest possible boat you can without breaking the bank. If you are talking new then I would think any of the mainstream brand outboards are going to work well for you. Proximity of service shops for the brand should be considered.

Re: Why do fish strike lures?

We haven't mentioned scent. I think that is also one of the key factors in enticing fish to bite. Related would be hiding some of the scents we might accidentally pass on to the baits, like gaso, or sunscreen.

Ouch, sorry to hear about that flu bug. Friend just told me they already got the flu shot for this season. Seemed early to me but after reading your post I might see if my doc has it in yet. I like the clean design you are considering, and really they look like they have decent storage. Get well.

Re: Artificial lure - that mean the lure is not a real lure ?

I guess whatever is used is intended to entice or "lure" the fish to bite. But in context of fishing, I have to agree a lure would be defined as an artificial bait. I suppose saying artificial lure is kind of redundant, but nonetheless seems to be a commonly used term. So, would trolling a brined sh...

Lake Lugano Boat Show!

Just got back from a trip to northern Italy. While we were in Como, Mrs Ldubs says let's jump on the train and go to Lugano Switzerland today. Little did she know that there was a boat & car show going on in the Lugano city center that day. Lot's of fancy boats and high end cars (maseratti, lamborgh...
