Finally Managed to Get Out

Turned out to be a nice sunny day. Temp was 44 deg's when I arrived at the lake. Probably low to mid 50's when I left. Managed a limit of trout before 10 am. Size from 15" to two at 19". Bite is real shallow this time of year. Guys that catch like to slow troll grubs using planer boards this time of...

New mercury 40hp

I've used jumper cables for years. Starting a small outboard is a small momentary load, smaller than any car. And the charging current is low. Might be different on a larger motor. Sent from my CLT-L04 using Tapatalk Thanks Weldor. My memory was bad. What I thought I remembered turned out to be a c...

Apple had been giving me warnings for months before I did the upgrade. I was prepared.

I guess I should start paying attention to that stuff. Haha

Re: New mercury 40hp

OK, I guess this is total hearsay. I read somewhere (probably on TB.net) to be careful about converting jumper cables to permanent use. The issue is that some use copper covered aluminum conductors and are only intended for momentary loads. As my kids might say, sorry to be a buzz kill.

Re: 1960’s 16’ Aluminum V-hull Mystery Boat Build

Seems I have relatively recently seen pic's of a boat with that same texture on the hull skin. Good chance it was here on TB.net. If I run across them again I'll be happy to circle back.

If you want to get fancy, line the V with carpet!

The big thing is to have it easy to put on & take off.
As long as it stays connected until you want it off then life is good!

Wow, that water looks calm.

Anyway, I trust she loaded up that Barbie reel with some high test braided line!

MacBook OS Update Warning

I'm not in any way tech savvy and I don't want to be. I just want to turn on the computer and use it. I guess everyone was warned about this a long time ago and it is probably old news for most people. If I did read about this, and I suspect I did, it wouldn't have meant anything to me. So, anyone o...

Do you know a brand name or trade name?
I don't know but you can see various products by googling "aluminum foam core roof panels". Interesting stuff.

Jon boat vs V hull

I think it has been shared before. I see different definitions but they seem to be within a couple degrees of this.

Deadrise as measured at the transom:

Deep V: minimum 20 deg deadrise.

Mod V: 15 Deg -20 Deg

Semi V: 14 Deg or less.

Jon boat vs V hull

I'm kinda leaning towards what Crazyboat is saying here. Does anyone even make a true Deep-V in a 14' aluminum boat? I honestly don't think I've ever seen one. But then I'm not out measuring dead rise angles either, so I'm prepared to be wrong. LOL

Selling boat question

When I upgraded the boat I kept my fish finder because it was relatively new and does everything I want it to (within reason Lol). I reinstalled the HB Piranamax that was original to the old boat. I left the old down riggers with the old boat because I wanted to upgrade those to electrics. Other gea...

Sears 1436 Build

I was able to reach a blistering 4.5 mph. Not bad,

Not bad at all, Haha.

Glad to hear that the sponsons really paid off with improved stability. I look forward to hear how the hull performs when you get it out with the big motor.

Black Friday

I've never been to a Cabelas store. I would like to but the closest is in Reno which is about a 4 hour drive. I wonder if they are the same inside as a BPS. I do have a BPS about an hour away. When I need to visit a store I normally go to a Sportsman's Warehouse which is about 45 minutes. My all tim...
