Re: Pic of Birds

Film? What is film? :LOL2: :LOL2: Seriously film used to be readily available everywhere. Now I suppose it is either a specialty shop or online. Don't suppose there are many photo labs left either. Enwez, both those images are terrific. Pssst: I heard of a guy that hangs out behind the bowling alley...

I am totally fine with avoiding four foot snakes randomly dropping in my boat, FormerParatrooper

Pretty decent discussion of trolling socks in the link below.

Sad News

Just saw this on a local fishing forum. Someone saw a man struggling in the water at one of our local lakes but was unable to get to him before he went under and failed to resurface. This happened at Lake Pardee which is a very deep drinking water reservoir. Because swimming/water sports are not all...

Re: Oldness Test

So anyone remember what they tied the Timex watch to? Hint, it is related to the forum! "Takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'". I remember what they strapped it to, but not the brand. I even remember the name of the guy doing the commercial! Good grief, I'm old. Or maybe spent too much time in fron...

Re: Fish Whacker picture request

I use a machete. There are two types of fish where I am, fish you want and fish that jump in your boat. When I get the boat jumpers ( Asian Carp ) they meet the sharp side of the machete. They are invasive and should not be released alive. I keep the heads and tails for trotlines. Catfish love them...

Re: Tackle storage

I did some more sniffing around. Couldn't find what you are describing. Now I am really curious. Hope someone who knows sees this.

I did see these racks by Plano designed to hold the stowaway boxes. Pretty nice.

Re: A humid night....and a few bass

I once used those insect repellant bracelets. I was still getting bites so wasn't real confident. Then I removed one from my ankle. It was like the dinner bell rang and every mosquito in the neighborhood came in for a taste. Who knows. Maybe some of them are starting to like Deet. Anyway, glad you p...

Re: Tackle storage

Was it some kind of built-in or recessed storage for the Plano boxes? Or, were the boxes strapped somehow to the side of the bench?

I got curious. I did a short search and there are tons of posts about using Plano boxes, but I didn't see any that used bungees on a bench seat.

Re: For those of you with bimini tops

I had a bimini top on my previous boat which was a 15' klamath. I used it primarily for shade on hot sunny days and it worked pretty well for that. Same for rain, but I was never out in more than a drizzle. I would say a key design consideration is that you be able to stand up under the bimini. Pros...

Re: My 1974 Sears 16ft Aluminum Semi-Vee

Looks like a fisherman's boat to me. I had Penn manual DR's on a boat back in the late 70's early 80's. Loved them.

That total scan transducer is huge!

Re: New member, about to buy a Grizzly 1648

Now the hardest part.... waiting! Boy oh boy, I hear you brother. But I guarantee it will be worth the wait. When I ordered the current boat I got the dreaded call saying it would be a month or more longer than the original delivery date. Dealer ended up agreeing to add my options to his showroom m...

Re: Guide on posts

I’ve heard of a ladder stabilizer being used to mont them If you want to make your own I think that is a pretty good idea -- creativity at work. I guess my thinking is if someone has to buy all the parts including 1.5" pipe, brackets, u-bolts, and a ladder stabilizer then how close will you be to $...

Re: Guide on posts

Side bunks work much better for smaller boats. Only big boats that require deeper water to launch need guide-ons to show you where the trailer is underwater. Even though it is larger I have side bunks on the current boat trailer and like them a lot. Seem to center the boat really well. Of course, t...
