Which 10' jon? Advice needed.
The Marlon is light, stable, and still fits between the wheel-wells of a truck if necessary. We've enjoyed this little guy for years... As you can see, for many of them I've had to load it myself. If you can find place to get one our Canadian dollar is weak right now, you might discover it's a real ...

Which 10' jon? Advice needed.
Sorry to throw you a curve ball this late in the game, but 10' x 48" are getting popular in the north. I've owned a Marlon for years, and enjoy the added stability! There's also a couple pictures in my old post below.

Tin boat fly fishing projects?
Nothing fancy here, but I live in fly fishing country. I'd cover the back too, but my old body needs to be comfortable when steering the boat. Have fun!

Spray or roll?
Roll & Tip your boat where you can... It hides a lot of flaws.

!4' boat on truck rack?
We have lots of truck rack configurations here, but after trying it I decided my "lite" 15' jon was too heavy to lift onto my truck rack and bought a trailer. Ultra-lite 10' jon is no problem though.

14' tracker floor
I cut my plywood tight, and have never had had a problem without styrofoam. I used aluminum square tubing on the edge to stabilize.
I look forward to watching your build!

Looking for a lightweight Jon rated for 4 people
This is the widest, light jon I know of. Here is a link to the 12'... I have a 10'. Made in Canada, but if you can find a local dealer they should be cheap with the weak Canadian Dollar.

My topper 1436 DONE!
I agree, size matters. Haven't regretted my 1542 for a minute, but if I could... I'd get one wider.

Base layers for the outdoors
I've learned in the last year that there is a big difference when your base layer wicks moisture away. Watch for it on sale, & Costco stocks an affordable Merino wool base layer here.

1455 Marlon - Sturgeon Boat
I'm real interested in this. I almost bought a Marlin last summer. They are advertised new all over craigslist down here. I might have bought one but the dealer was actually a trailer dealer and didn't know doodly about boats. He wanted as much for a trailer as he did for the boat. Please keep us p...

Seats for a 1542 Tracker Jon
I have a 1542. Consider a slider type seat for you- to control or at least influence the balance of the boat, but you may need to add a wood bench to create an edge. You can see I use an old clamp-on for adult passengers too.

What do you do for a living? or Fun (boating not allowed)
Gang, I just stumbled across this post and enjoyed learning about you. I am a Financial Planner; that means I spend a lot of my time helping people figure out what is really important to them! I will retire in 13 years and 10 months.... health permitting. Until then I will support my wife and two da...

Seat placement in flat bottom
There are "slider type" seat mounts that allow you to move the seat depending on what you are doing. They don't move with weight on them, but lean forward and it will slide 10-12". I tend to operate the motor from the side, and I have the seat in the same place if I'm lounging with my legs along the...
