Anyone tried this coating?

Some people love it on their decks and in their boat.

I don't care for the way it looks on either.

Adjust your drag properly and that won't happen, drag should be set for the weakest link between the reel and hook.

If I was that far north I'd be giving the Walleye and Pike the "sore mouth".

1970 Mirrocraft deck replacement. The foam under the deck?

I am no expert but just from reading what you said about how you can see the rollers bulging through the hull, I would make sure when you do re-pour the foam it that your boat is not on the trailer with the rollers. The way I see it is that anything that is allowing the hull to flex in after you re...

The easiest fix that you can DIY is to drill out/cut off the rivets that hold the knee brace to the bottom of the boat and the ones that hold the 2 angles to the side walls. Replace your transom wood (be sure to seal it real good before installation), then you can use closed end blind rivets to rein...

New Guy with new old boat and motor

Just an FYI, the next time you paint aluminum use self etching zinc chromate primer. It'll last a lot longer.

That's a sweet little "puddle jumper" tinny and you can take it where the bigger boats can't go and catch those "virgin" fish.

Lone Star keel...what series alloy?

I'm unsure of the alloy, but 5052 sounds like a good guess. Are you sure you want to weld this? If you're a good welder with aluminum experience, go for it... but welding aluminum is tricky and you can really muck it up if you don't know what you're doing. I personally would patch it. Patches, dents...

Trolling motor being level. Important?

You're actually worried about how plumb the shaft needs to be when the TM is deployed. The answer is... don't worry about it. Worrying about plumb or level on a boat is futile, boats don't set level in the water and nothing is plumb. As long as you're installing the TM on a bow deck the shaft will b...

1970 Mirrocraft deck replacement. The foam under the deck?

The 4 lb. density is all you need, it's rated for structural support and it probably what you have in there now... it may even be 2 lb. in there now. Don't worry about the foam bonding, it sticks to everything. I know removing and replacing the foam seems like a daunting task right now, but it's rea...

1970 Mirrocraft deck replacement. The foam under the deck?

The foam doesn't add stability, that comes from the hull design. The foam won't make your boat float higher in the water when the boat isn't swamped, but wet foam will make it sit lower because of the weight. The foam does support your deck and adds a certain amount of structural stiffness to your b...

1970 Mirrocraft deck replacement. The foam under the deck?

Removing that foam and the transom and the pressure treated decking will be the best 3 things you can do for that boat. That foam is holding hundreds of pounds of water weight that's slowing down your boat, saturated foam also loses it's buoyancy and won't float your boat in an emergency. That press...

Garage tile over my deck?

How much is it per tile? The stuff I see at Home Depot is $3.49 per tile/foot, that $31 a square yard.

Nautolex marine deck vinyl is only $9.50 a square yard.
