Well after two big back to back snow storms I finally was able to find my 1992 alumacraft fishermen to start the restoration work.
My goal with this project is to do it in stages so I can use the boat when the fish are biting. I am starting in the bow and working my way to the stern then to the out side. The floor will get a tan color durabak and the bottom will get a steelfex finish not sure of the bottom color yet.

We after removing about 50 inches of snow I was able to shoot some picture of this old boat.

The trailer is new and is in need of more adjustments.

Today I was able to remove the bow deck and bow floor. Nothing wrong but some rusted steel screws and a broken angle piece. Made a wood templet out of some scrap 1/4 plywood for the bow deck. Next is to cut the aluminum for the bow deck and to cut more templets for an anchor locker under the bow deck. When it gets a little drier I'll cut a templet for the bow floor. I want to do a mock up so I can get the underfloor compartments just right before I start cutting good material.

I'll try to post weekly up dates on this project.

Was able to cut supports for the bow seat.
Supports for the new hatches were cut also.
All new wood are getting lots of coats of water seal.

Started to fix the water leaks when I came across this.
It seams to be eating away the aluminum from the inside.
Lots of foam under floor. Have not pulled this part of the floor up yet.
Has any one seen this happen?

The boat has spent it's life in salt water

Well the camera did not want to talk to the computer. All is working so here are the new pictures.

The section with two boxes is not done because the lower floor will but up into this area so I will foam it out when the new is in.

the OSB is just a temp floor to get all the holes cut just right before the saw gos to cut one the better stuff. OSB is cheap to get everything just right.

The bow deck is about 1/4 diamond plate.

the edge was finished with a piece of 1 inch square tubing under to give it strength.

then to give it a nice smooth edge a piece of 1 inch angle was used to cap it.

All out of aluminum

Nice job man!!

I can only imagine what's it like to be in snow that deep.. I've only seen it once. Atlanta would be shut down until 2011 with a snow like that!

The under side of the bow deck will be used for an anchor locker.

The inside will be coated with cheap bed liner

The out side will get the durabak coating when everything is finished.
So for now it will just get a coat of water proofing.
I'm thinking about using fiber glass resin.

it's going to rain for the next week so it will give me time to do this in the basement

This is it so far

next the live well comes out and the new floor is going in

The boat only had one storage compartment.

With this set up I've gained a lot more storage. 4 just in the bow.

And I think I'll end up with even more flotation foam then the boat started with

It be a few weeks before the next steps get posted

Fishing season is here

Tight lines

More storage is ALWAYS good! Nice layout so far I especially like the diamond plate breasthook. Very Tim Taylor!

The plastic bins are permanent. I wanted something that could hold the shape when the foam was sprayed in. This should also keep the water out from soaking up from the bottom. The bins are from Ikea. They were about 1/4 inch too high but they have a nice lip to get them tight to the underside of the floor. I cut out the floor under them to make them fit.
