I have been lurking around this site for over a year stealing all of the good ideas! I bought my boat last summer after deciding that I needed one to teach the kids how to fish. I bought it from an older fellow who bought it new in 1975. He told me that he used it to teach his kids and his grandkids how to fish and now that his health was declining he wanted to pass it along to someone else. I was the lucky one and pulled it home. I promptly moved my wife's car out of the garage and proclaimed that spot as my own! I took her out (the wife) a few times to smooth things over. Then I took her out (the boat) and used her for a few months without really changing anything. I wanted to see what worked and what I needed to change. My daughter (the river rat) and I went out several times and I made mental notes. I wanted this boat to be enjoyed by both kids and still functional as a fisher. I owe a lot of my knowledge from the members here (especially the electrical) and I thank you. This is still a work in progress and I'll update with pictures as she comes along! If anyone has suggestions or see changes that should be made to make it more functional feel free!

I really thought about putting in a front casting deck in but I didn't want all the extra weight or money or work that comes with it. The other bad thing about a casting deck for me is that kids can roll off of it. I decided to go with a flat floor in the front made out of cedar. I plan on installing a pedestal seat later on. This way the kids can jump around and not fall out. The deck should sit pretty level when the boat is in the water.

Since I don't have a front casting deck I thought I'd build one on the back. I saw another guy (flatbotm?) do this and really liked it.

All right guys. I debated on whether I should put in a bilge punp. I mean, what are the odds of this battleship sinking???? I decided that it would be better to have a bilge pump and not need it than to roll the dice. I didn't want to buy a kit to plumb so I used my own elbow joints and piping. It's pretty sturdy.

I ordered a 6 gang switch panel and installed it in a trim board near the bow. I didn't want to cut a hole in any of the benches so I thought this would be the next best thing.

Here's the seats. I got two of them in with the front one being on a pedestal. I plan on putting another base plate on the rear bench with a pedestal option. This way I can have two people fishing from the front and back.

I put some LED lights on the rear bench and the front trim panel next to the switch panel.

She's pretty much done now. I want to add another seat on the rear bench and some cup / rod holders. Anybody got any ideas on what I should add?

I had no idea you had posted this on the site, LOL, I think I have B-Rad talked into re-vamping Flat Bottom Girl, taking out the carpeted plywood and replacing with the cedar decking!!!!

Can't wait to take this out for some muskie hunting!!!
