Hey guys,
New to the forum and new to Aluminum boats in general. I have a 12' that I'm going to be restoring (Bed Lining the floor, Sealing of course, Paint, just for starters). Just looking for tips and pointers from people who have already done it and if anyone had any idea what kind of boat this actually is lol.

The boat is pretty rough right now. My dad bought it from a guy at work for $80 (can't beat that) now I plan on redoing it and making it into a nice little fishing/hunting boat.

Thanks in advance for any advice and help.
-Mike

Hey, welcome SynRacing35. Lots of neat 12' projects on here and great members to help with your questions. A few suggestions: make liberal use of the search function, make sure you have the registration sorted out before you invest much time and money and be very judicious in adding weight to a 12 foot tin. You are going to have a lot of fun.

Thanks. The only things I really plan on adding are the paint, bed liner, and two boxes down the sides. I'm currently in the process of removing the seats and damaged parts. I plan on re fabricating the damages pieces and leaving the middle seat out and putting 2 aluminum boxes down the side in its place for rods, tackle, guns, a cooler ect.

As far as registration in NJ if the boat is 12 feet and under (mine actually measures out to 11' 9") you don't need to register unless you have a motor. I only really plan on putting a trolling motor on. At least for right now. Jersey is weird about gas motors.

do you have a trailer for it?
if you plan on putting in the bedliner, you'll need one. that stuff is heavy.
looks like a great boat for a starter, what are you going to use for the boxes? aluminum or wood?

document the process as you go, take a lot of pictures, I didn't take as many with mine and I wish I had.
Good luck!

No trailer just putting it on my roof rack. I just want to do a light bedliner coat on the inside at least for right now. Making the boxed out of aluminum to keep the weight down. More pictures will be coming just slowly still taking things apart when I have time after work. My goal date to finish by is October 5th (just picked a random date). Next step is getting a sheet of aluminum and refabricating some of the broken and bent pieces then after they are installed paint and bedliner.
