I am about to begin the restoration of my rowboat and was looking for some help. I attached a photo of one corner of the boat that I am about to strip down to the bare metal. Does anyone know what the paint is that was added to this boat? I bought this boat several years ago and have been using it as it. I want to learn how to restore aluminum boats and figure this is a safe one to start with. I will add before photos and likely ask for your advice as time goes on. I have been doing a lot of reading (including many of the posts on other restoration projects) and watching YouTube videos (some leave a lot to be desired).

I tried a stripper, sand paper - 60 grit and two wire wheels - seated results belbow. Am I taking off aluminum as well?
