I have finally joined the ranks of the Motored! However I do not know where my prop should be in relation to the boat? Should the shaft be all the way down? please help!

I've found it to be different for every boat... I have to have mine down straight, with the prop about 1' under the boat... then I tilt the motors back 1 click to get the fastest speeds.
some guys in my club run them straight up and down, all the way down with a 36" shaft and move just as well... I don't know what it is... maybe because I fish alone in the front of the boat, so that is where the majority of the weight is

I put mine down as low as I have to in order to keep it quiet. Other than that, I keep it up as high as possible to help avoid rocks and stumps.
