i was helping my 80 yo dad with cooking for the family get to together christmas eve. i got called into work the day before and was going to get off that evening but they started adding on cases and didn't get out til 5 am christmas eve morning. my wife helped my dad get the meat ready to cook and i had most of it planned out but he wanted to cook some pork loins that he had cut open/butterflied. usually he stabbed a small hole down the middle and oil and jam a sausage in the middle and grill but he butterflied them this time. they started calling me a work and ask how to get them ready. i shot from the hip and told them to put them in a turkey bag and pour Big Red over them and close the bag and put it in the fridge. the next morning i took them out and put Williams BBQ seasoning on them. the spice from seasoning went good with the sugar from the soda and the acid from the soda made them very tender. the soda also gave it a tandoori red look which was funny because we made tandoori seasoning Big Red can butt chicken that didn't make the chicken red. all was good and i sleep good once i got back home christmas eve evening. next year the boy will be old enough to drive me home.
