First, I haven't been on here in years. It's so nice to be back. :D I picked up a 1980 Valco. I was wondering what the 2 vertical brackets are that are beside the handles. Thanks

Odd, because your re-post shows up for me. Anyway, the brackets are for wheels on a square aluminum leg which fits in the track and is pinned through the various holes so you can wheel your boat down to the lake like a wheelbarrow.

Oh ok. I will more than likely remove them. I wouldn't have a use for them where I fish and since I don't have the wheels. Thanks!

You can buy the wheels anywhere. Useful sometimes if you are on your own and it is a ways to the water. I see you are trailering your boat anyway so probably of no use unless you were keeping the trailer and selling the boat.

I believe I bought this boat from a man in Barboursville,WV. Is there anything about the boat I should know?

If you fish shallow water you could turn them into those pole anchors everyone is using now.
