I have a sliding bracket on my Terrova for 2 reasons. First was security. I travel to fish quite a bit and wanted to be able to easily remove the motor and lock it up. Today, I have a second reason. I own two boats and I use the same trolling motor on both of them. It makes switching them a breeze. If you never see the need to remove your motor for any reason, you don’t need one.
