Hit a rock with my jet, took a chuck out of my foot. Could not find the missing piece. Did anyone ever have their foot welded without the broken piece?

I had one repaired that was missing a good chunk of the leading edge and also had a crack past where the piece was missing and was also bent up where the crack was, probably about 2/3 of the leading edge was damaged.
I put it on a table saw and cut the entire leading edge back 1", which was about the deepest part of the damage, and then had a piece of 3/8" X 1" bar stock welded on flush with the bottom of the foot. I then formed the foot with a flapper disc. and painted it, so far so good and you would have to look hard to see that it was repaired, cost me $30 plus whatever I pd. for the piece of aluminum bar stock.
I did order a new foot for a spare, I will probably need it eventually, I ordered it directly from Outboard Jets and would check with them first if you need a new foot.
Post a pic. if possible of the damage, others on here have had their intakes repaired and will be able give you more advice once they see how much damage and exactly where the damage is.
