Hi everyone,
I have been using this forum for a few years to gather info. You guys also gave me quite a few ideas and information for a previous build that I have completed but have no pics of. This time around I decided to share the project that I am currently undertaking with my kids. It is a 97 Starcraft that we picked up with the intention of restoring it over the winter months. The motor runs great, but other than that, none of the electronics or pumps function on the boat. After the initial test run on the lake, I knew that the foam had to be waterlogged because it sat very low in the water. The boat spent its entire life outside uncovered in Michigan. I had already gotten the boat gutted out prior to posting this but I have pictures of the progress.

Update on the project. I have done a poor job maintaining this thread as the boat is now complete and sold. I purchased the boat with the intent to keep it but through the course of the project I acquired a different boat that I have now. I did however take pics of the project from start to finish.

I ended up ripping out all of the factory foam because it was severely waterlogged and I wanted to do a thorough leak test. After the foam was removed, I filled the boat with water to find any leaks. It had one leaking rivet so that was replaced. After replacing the rivet, I used gluvit on everything below the waterline as a precautionary measure. For the floor and transom I used epoxied exterior plywood and then poured new flotation foam underneath.

Here are pics of the reassembly process. I placed marine vinyl on the main floor and then used a marine carpet that my local HD had in stock for the remainder. I had samples from some online marine carpet places and compared the two. They were about the same quality so I went local because of the convenience in case I needed a little more than anticipated. I had originally intended on restoring the trailer along with new paint and stickers on the boat, but when I decided to sell it I opted not to because at that point I was just trying to recoup my costs. I will post pics of my current boat when I get around to redoing the floor in it.

Great job! Now if you sold THAT, we have to see what you now own!

Hey that’s the same FishMaster 160SC ‘97 vintage that I refurbished. Luckily my floor
& foam were sound & dry ... I only needed to replace the transom wood and transom skins - gulp!
