I have a 2000 Alumicraft 1860svCC welded hull. Currently running a (very heavy) 2022 115/80 merc jet on a homemade minimal setback jack plate. Setback is approx 3 inches. With the new 4 stoke I just cannot get rid of the spray (trying a homemade splash guard next, story for another thread). The old lightweight 115 johnson jet I had on it was setup perfect. Thinking about just rising the transom, but not seeing a lot of information out there on the best way to go about this process. I have welded on beavertail pods and to make matters worse I think the old wooden core in my transom is starting to get soft so I might was well replace it at the same time. Its going to be a big project, just need some advice on planning it out properly. Any help is appreciated and photos even better! Thank you.

I saw this parked at the boat shop and thought of you.
Since you’re going to re-do the transom, you can just make it 4” taller.

The alumacraft river runners had a high transom for an outboard jet. Maybe you could pattern your transom after them. No wood in them. Not sure what you have. River runners were sponges because alumacraft foamed into the strakes w/o a floor. Had to rebuild mine. But for your needs their transom design is strong.

Thanks for the reply's! I'll have to look into the river runners they made. I had no idea they even made a model like that.
