Anyone use a Teleflex Seastar Boat Steering System QC Rotary on a '57 Alumacraft Deep C? The dilemma is that the Dash Mounting Template requires 3 and 3/4" and the Bezel requires 5 and 1/8" . I'm limited with my dash size (see photos). Any helpful hints would be greatly appreciated!

This is what I used. The self-etching primer is from O' Reilley's and the paint is from Tractor Supply. No time for West Marine ! My Shark Boat got the same treatment; scrub, pressure wash, acetone wipe down, self-etching primer, then Rust Oleum Gloss Smoke Grey. I painted that boat in June...

I scrubbed, pressure washed, and wiped the bottom of my '57 Deep C with acetone to make sure it was absolutely clean. Then I hit it with self etching primer, which is vital if you really want the top coat to stick. The finish hull coat is Rust Oleum Ford Tractor Blue.

Santa got me a new Suzuki DF25A ! The boy helped me with this one by asking the Mrs "remember when me and Dad got caught in a thunderstorm because his old motor wouldn't start?'

It's definitely a 15" transom, and the motor is a 1963 Johnson 28hp Model RX-11A. Huge for a 28 hp. Thanks for the input.

Does anyone know the type of wood they originally used for these boats? Mine definitely needs to be replaced, and I want to do it the right way the first time. Thanks !

According to the original sales brochure, my old Deep C weighs in at 276 lbs. Do y'all think a 1998 20 hp Johnson would be enough horsepower? As long as I could go 25 or so mph I'm happy. Thanks !

Maybe I need another cup o'joe, but I can't seem to find where my boat's serial number is? Did they even have serial numbers on '57s ? Thanks !
