    Alternative to Gluvit

I have not used gluvit on the bottom of the boat. Just on the inside of aluminum and on surfaces of wood. It is not UV stable, so will need paint over it if exposed. I wouldn't think that it would be a good bottom paint/sealer. There are other specialty coatings, like for gliding over...

2012 Yamaha F60 won't shut off with key

Welcome to Tin Boats! It sounds like you have an intermittent ground wire. Since it is effecting multiple items, would start at the switch panel and trace back.

    Console placement

Agree. I like it! It needs a windshield though, to collect all the stuff from a days outing. ;)

    Bow or Transom Trolling Motor?

Might be a good test of the remotes range. ;)

Getting ready to outfit new Crestliner Storm 1700 with Elco motor and ??? electronics

I thought there was some discussion about this on the MK trolling motors, and the higher end units had a parameter to set to alleviate it??? ie too much torque trying to make a position adjustment using GPS features. Anyway, if it becomes an issue, call MK tech support. There might be an easy fix.

    New Lowrance Eagle

I read thru it as well, and felt he was biased toward Lowrance. Seemed to ding Garmin because they were not just marine electronics based and don't have the years of experience. Well, their Garmin Force trolling motor seems well designed and gained allot of following in a very short time over...

1979 Sylvan Rodmaster Bare Bones Rebuild

Yea, only something to consider. FWIW: It never happened when boat was stored outside with a tarp. They infested it when it was in a shed, but still had the cover left on. It wasn't near the main house, though.

    Trolling motor mount

It is a rather large gap, and suspect it will be more than pictured, if the rubber mounts weren't on the front. I think with stacked washers, more susceptible to bolt twisting/leaning sideways, under torque. Not sure what size trolling motor the OP is putting on, but some boats only support...

    Earthquake

My son is in Parsippany NJ and was working from home. He felt the house shake and there were a few pictures on the walls that needed re-leveling. His wife was outside. and only slightly felt it, like heavy equipment next door. My daughter, was in the office in Manhatten, and felt it. I'm...

1979 Sylvan Rodmaster Bare Bones Rebuild

Some things to consider: The cardboard templates represent the bottom of your planned 3/4" deck. The top will be wider in most cases, with the bow area usually at the most angle. Typically a 45 degree max with most saws. The better you match it, the less you have to fill the gap. One...

    What is a Jon Boat?

I'm with the traditional jon boat having a flat bottom and squared off front. An overall rectangular shape. I have a 1648 Mod-V Jon, that has a pointed front and a shallow deadrise. The G3 CCJ has a pointed front, but flat bottom. It is still a Jon Boat. When looking at used boats, I see...

    Trolling motor mount

If you are going to shim the gap, try to use 6 mounting bolts vs four.
