Yep, BPS and Cabela's (I guess they are now one, which is fitting) have pretty much been turned into a Walmart. I avoid them like the plague these days.

Fishizzle, i used two pieces of exterior ply on my transom, however i did not glue them together. Both were coated at least three times with helmsman spar urethane.

You'll be fine with whatever. If you don't have a nice handheld (e.g. Garmin), I'd recommend that, you can take it anywhere.

Check out some of last years models, they are usually on sale. I got the Lowarance 5 HDS w/ lake insight mapping pretty cheap, the chirp model replaced it.

X2, BPS is basically a rebadged wal-mart now.
