Thanks for the complements. Just finished painting the third coat on the inside. Hopefully by next weekend the bottom will be painted and the seats and lights will be installed.

    Seat pedestal and mount

Nice clean battery installation, that looks great. I am going mount the battery in the rear seat with access through a hatch. haven't decided exactly how yet.

    Seat pedestal and mount

I added a front mount and pedestal to my 1436. The mount base is two 3/16" x 2" alum angles. I added two 7/8" thick treated boards cut at an angle to match the mid seat level to the alum angles using screws. Then a .050 alum sheet was screwed on to the wood pieces and the pedestal was bolted...

Best product to clean electrical connectors

We used CRC QD contact cleaner or Deoxit gold contact cleaner for the gold-plated pins and sockets.

    Potential flooring material?

It looks a lot like flooring used in the aerospace industry by Boeing and Airbus. If it is then it is semi-hard, has good traction and wears well. It would make a great floor if you can find the supplier. Maybe the boat manufacturer would share their supplier or at least give you a product name.

    Help with replacing vinyl

You could also use aircraft "pull" type rivets. They are structural rivets https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/hapages/cherrymax.php Keep in mind they use a 100* countersink. You may try smoothing the area around the rivet head with something like aluminum tape...

    1436LT Alumacraft modifications

I spent some time looking at the different configurations. It looks like the original steering kit was a pulley system. I am now looking at universal rack steering kit. I am going to keep the pull start also. Did you relocate your kill switch to the console? I was planning on wiring it in...

    1436LT Alumacraft modifications

I have been reading the post on your boat. I like your ideas. Nice looking boat. I haven't started working out the layout yet but when I do if you don't mind I may have a few questions for you. I figure I may have to design the remote system and have been trying to find pictures of what the...

    1436LT Alumacraft modifications

I have started researching what it will take to convert my 79 Evinrude 6hp to remote controls. I am also wanting to remove the center seat and do some floor modifications. I also plan on adding pedestal seats while maintaining the three person capacity. I am not sure how I will get this done but...

    Evinrude 6 hp

I picked up a 1979 model 6904E 6hp today. It is fairly clean but shows its age. It has good compression on both cylinder's and there doesn't appear to be any leaks. The throttle was hard to rotate because it had old grease that was solid and wax like. I cleaned and greased the inside of the...

Older jon boat repair questions... From a newbie

I don't have a marine repair background so there may be better ways but I would repair the the ribs (usually ribs give shape and stringers tie the skin and ribs together) using a fiberglass and epoxy overlay repair. I would extend the length of the repair six to eight inches on both sides of the...

    Learning to work on outboards

Thanks for all the advice. I am still looking for a motor so it may be a while before I can ask engine specific questions. Maybe if I put my wife on the oars the process of finding a engine will speed up.
