Sealing bolt holes in transom ?

To seal plywood multiple coats of penetrating epoxy making sure to get edges. Raka has good kits/prices. Be sure to read the details on the catalyst choices. http://www.raka.com/epoxy.html Lots of rigging shops use 5200 to seal bolt holes and it seems to work reasonably well but what DaleH said...

Lock Stock & Barrel FME Paint

Haven’t even used it yet but have to give a shout out to Lou at LS&B Paints for superior customer service. I called to order with a few questions about their Flat Marine Enamel and ended up talking to Lou for 20-30min about the best way to accomplish my project. Even suggested a different color...

Quick release seat mounts on coolers?

Redoing the floor and removing a seldom used pedestal seat in the bow. Was thinking about putting that seat on top of a HD rigid cooler so it could be removed easily or put back in when a fishing partner needs a seat. Issue is I’m a saltwater guy and most of the QRs for swivel seats I see are...

Minn Kota quick release mount options?

Seems like a no-brainer to me if the MKA-21 fits your motor. I have what I believe is the same or similar in my saltwater iPilot except it’s white. The puck that attaches to the deck is small and much less intrusive and snag free when motor isn’t mounted. Also should be easier to place on the...

    new to the site

I’ve been a boater my whole life but never done the rocky fast moving rivers so will defer to the other guys here on that. However, I’ll tell you that when I lived near the upper Potomac my wife and I first Canoe fished , then Kayaked and had a great time catching smallies and running small...

    Riveted Boats - Pros/Cons Leaky?

I think I’d try it with your boys (in life jackets) a few times before adding rails. Not only do they interfere with fishing but are a trip hazard getting on and off the boat which I think makes them more dangerous than the protection we perceive them offering. Additionally, you can guarantee...

    Riveted Boats - Pros/Cons Leaky?

I’ve had a few of both. Most of the riveted boats in my area are significantly lighter than their welded brethren thus easier to handle and cheaper to power. I also like that it’s relatively easy to fix something in my boat myself without taking to a welder. A few years ago had two slowly...

Freshwater trolling motors in salt water

I wouldn’t buy a new freshwater TM to use in salt but I once bought a boat with a freshwater foot controlled TM that I planned to replace as soon as it died and it lasted 2-3 seasons and was still going strong (but ugly) when I changed it out. So if you can find one cheap I say slap it on and...

    Topside paint?

Thx. I have to admit I’ve spent a lot of time downrange in a lot of mil vehicles but never paid that much attention the paint. Had to look up CARC Paint. But yeah, the color and properties sound right. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Did you use it in smooth or textured? How’s it holding up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

    Topside paint?

Thanks, that "Topside" paint is in the running. I like the idea that I can get it locally for future touchups. See two colors that might work "Oyster White" and "Sand Beige" but both are glossy. I'm in S.C. by the way.

    Topside paint?

Hmm, haven't really thought of doing it all with a rattle can. Just as tough? Still, I think I'm going to have to at least roll the horizontal surfaces to add non-skid? I may be willing to compromise on the interior paint being flat but really do want a light tan/sand in hopes it will be cooler...

    Topside paint?

It's about time to order some topside paint for my 1448 Alumacraft. I've been going round/round and obsessing to a ridiculous degree over this beater jon boat. However, clean-up, sanding, priming is a PITA and I really only want to do this one time. Whatever I choose I plan to put down...

Non slip painted floor in a tin boat

Just an idea. I’ve been researching paint textures and I think I’ve decided to add the “soft sand rubber” texture to my base coat by broadcasting it on the first coat and masking off areas where I don’t want the texture. With that in mind, what if you taped off floor panels before applying the...

Parker Duck boat paint, too dark?

I’m no help just also frustrated with lack of choices of shades. Looking for a flat light tan or sand to paint the inside of mine to keep it cool and just can’t tell from online pics. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
