    SeaArk 1652 weight distribution

I have a 1756 - 1 foot longer than yours. I have 1 battery, 6 gal of fuel, a 40hp 2 stroke outboard, and almost 300lbs of me in the back. I like to have another person in the front of the boat if I'm moving at any kind of speed. I have 25# sand bags (filled with pea gravel so they don't make...

Has anyone used an underwater drone to fish?

Not an underwater drone. I have heard of people using a flying drone to take the bait out long, long distances and drop it beyond the surf or across the lake.

    Boarding Ladders (from water)?

I tried one of the webbing ladders with PVC pipee ladder rungs. Very difficult to use. If it was up against a wall it would probably work. Dangling in the water, the ladder moves away from you and under the boat. Any rescue ladder I bought would have to be rigid. But my plan is to step on...

    Mounting a transducer plate

I used a piece of 3/4" thick PVC and 5200 adhesive. 5200 is considered forever but if I ever need to remove the PVC plate, I can cut through the adhesive with a guitar string. Some adhesives bond with a very thin film. Marine adhesives need a thicker film to work. When you press the block...

Drilling 3/4" hole in side of boat....Tips/Advice

I's prefer a hole saw but a 3/4" standard twist drill will make a perfectly fine hole. Instead of discharging 2" below the gunnel, why not just discharge over the top of the transom. My bilge pump hose runs up to the top of the transom where I have a 90 degree barbed fitting that points over...

    Stealth Electric outbboard

Batteries need to get a lot better before they become the norm. Right now, gasoline has about 46 mega-joules of energy per kilogram. lithium ion batteries have about 0.46 Mj/kg. Gasoline has 100x the range for the same weight. My 40hp outboard will get me about 45 miles on a 6 gallon tank...

    Bear trailer issue

replace that nut with a nylon lock-nut. At least it won't loosen on its own.

    Interior Led Lighting

I have 4 of these mounted on my storage lockers and the rear of my bench seat below the gunnels. I have them mounted so the light is pointed down at the floor. They light up the inside of the boat well and can't be seen by other boaters...

Anyone ever try hand crank trolling motor

Never seen one but... It takes a certain amount of power to move a boat at whatever speed you want to move it. Whether it's a propeller, oars, paddles, or something else, there is no way to make that power requirement smaller. I have a lot more power in my back and arms when I'm rowing than...

    Tongue Extension Install

I'm planning to do the same project in the next couple of weeks to keep the back wheels of my truck out of the salt water. My trailer has the fold away kit already installed. I hadn't considered just replacing the section of tube between that kit and the coupler. Don't know why I overlooked...

    Did it....Purchased a 2017 Alumacraft V16!

Nice open design. If it was mine, I wouldn't change much at all. I like to be able to walk around in a boat. I also like that it's a tiller - consoles take up floor space. If I was to do mine over again, I'd get rid of the console and go with stick steer.

    Advertising

Hoping somebody can get this message to the admin that handles advertising. I sent a message through the advertising contact form several days ago {maybe last weekend} asking for information on advertising on this site. I haven't heard a reply and would like to talk to someone about this...

    When manufactures say 100 gauge...

Improper use of the word "gauge". Maybe on purpose because it sounds tough and manly to refer to metal thickness as "gauge" so it's a marketing phrase. Maybe just some guy in the marketing department who got the terms mixed up and it stuck.

    Wire size?

Depends on how much current (amps) everything on your fuse box draws. You can use any size wire you want, as long as the fuse at the battery is sized properly to protect the wire. But...if that wire and fuse from the battery isn't big enough to power everything on the fuse panel, you'll...
