    New outboard battery

I bought a 35 ah harbor freight battery for my F25 and it is more than enough and I can use it for the trolling motor if I want to. I don’t remember what the cranking amps were exactly but it was around 450. I brought my tester because there is no rating on it being it’s a deep cycle. It’s...

    So, back at home.....

We call them choupic. Very good to eat fresh. You have to keep them alive right up until you clean them. If you put them on ice the meat will turn to mush very quickly. They put up a good fight I've heard them called cypress trout.

25 Yamaha tiller with power trim!

The old Tohatsu wasn't an option because of the weight and a 15" transom. I saw one youtube video that compared the older Mercury (same engine)with the newer one and it had the same top speed. I've heard of a 30 Mercury on a 12' Allison doing 50 mph with an 18p chopper prop. I'll let you know...

25 Yamaha tiller with power trim!

I cut 1" off on the previous motor because the tiller was hitting the seat. I made a jack plate for the new motor to set it back further so I wouldn't have to cut it and because this one bolts through the transom. I didn't want to seal the holes when I take it off to run the old Johnson. I just...

Mercury 60 vs. Johnson 60 vs. Evinrude 70

Nice! I always liked walk through windshields. Especially when it's 35 degrees.

First boat looking for some speed

Get the motor height set correctly before you buy a new prop. You would be amazed how much drag the hydrofoil can produce when it's submerged or tucked under. I had one on a boat I bought and it was like having brakes when I trimmed down too far. I pulled it off. If you don't need it to prevent...

    Prop Shops?

I've ordered quite a few cutlass bearings and gland packing over the years from Deep Blue Yacht for my mudboats and I never had a problem. Prices were good and shipping was fast. I never spoke to anyone on the phone though.

First boat looking for some speed

The top of the tunnel. If the foil is 6 inches under the water then you will likely have to raise it that much if possible.

First boat looking for some speed

It's hard to tell in the pictures but it looks like the motor is in a tucked position and a bit low height wise. With the hydrofoil that will make the problem worse. When you are running is the foil out the water? You want to have the engine tilted at least level and only the bottom of the foil...

Mercury 60 vs. Johnson 60 vs. Evinrude 70

Glad to help! Are the oil injection systems still intact on the 60 and 70? I would be surprised if they are. It's a diaphragm pump and I certainly wouldn't trust it with the age of them.

Mercury 60 vs. Johnson 60 vs. Evinrude 70

For resale, as long as you can get the carbs for a reasonable price the Mercury makes the most sense. Especially since it's rigged for it. I've only run one 60 Mariner that was that cubic in (52) and I wasn't impressed. The compression was good. Correct prop etc. I called a guy that did our...

    Prop Shops?

I have the Michigan aluminum 11p and ran it for years on a 1436 flat bottom Gibson hull. Brother in law gave me his stainless 12p when his motor locked up and I re-pitched it to 10p to put the engine on my 1548v. It made a 200 rpm difference vs the 11p but top speed was the same. It made a...

    1957 Alumacraft “Deep C” Restoration

That's cool boat and a good looking motor cover. I had a 1955 25hp Evinrude. We called it the toaster because of the shape. We upgraded with the later style fuel pump and hose. Strong engine.

    cover for Jon boat

I have the Sun Dura also on the 18' and haven't had any issues. I use a telescopic pole at each end with a vent on top. I For the jon boat and duck boat I use the silver tarps but they sit under the trees so the sun doesn't beat on it all day.

    25hp for a 20hp hull

My 1548 is actually 14'3" with a 15 inch transom and with that same engine and I have no problems by myself. A 25lb battery (harbor freight) and 6 gallons of gas in the back. With a 200lb passenger I just can't back up too hard but I load toolboxes and ice chests in the front. If your hull is...
