    Primer bulbs

They have always worked fine for me. When I prime my Yamaha built Mariner, it fills the external fuel filter assembly and pushes fuel through the fuel lines to the fuel pump. Thereby "priming" the fuel system.

Any interest in a water pickup system?

I watched the videos...all of them. It is my understanding, as some have already stated in here, that your low water pickup essentially creates a surface drive. Albeit with a skeg. I could see the benefits of a high HP outboard being used as a surface drive to access skinnier water.

    Boat cover water repellent?

I think there was a member on here who posted this idea of mixing 50% silicone and 50% mineral spirits together and applying it to waterproof various substrates, boat covers, backpacks, etc. I made up about a couple tablespoons of this mixture and did repel water on an cut up portion of...

    War Eagle Jon Boats

I'm familiar with the older, traditional looking War Eagle jon boats and they are a heavy, tank of a jon boat. I place them in the same category as Alweld, Weld Craft, Express.

    Bench seat foam replacement

Another option, do you want to reinstall that bench seat? I can't tell from the photos, but are there rivet holes in the hull generated from the bench seat removal? A lot of tinboaters remove that front bench seat...no matter the size jon boat...to make more room. Perhaps you might consider...

    20HP selection.

I'm in West TN as well and have been researching sub-40hp outboards. What dealer/marina is providing your motor?

40 hp Mariner 2 stroke bogs down at first then runs great

Yes! Those 80s-90s Yamaha/Mariners scream at WOT. You might be able to quiet it down with some foil/foam matting made for sound deadening or butyl rubber. I've seen some older folks layer swamp cooler water pan coating inside the cowls as well.

40 hp Mariner 2 stroke bogs down at first then runs great

I bet your Mariner is a Yamaha built Mariner. Those Yamaha carbs are very easy to rebuild and I've found they respond well to simply taking the bowl off and cleaning ultrasonically. In similar fashion as your motor, I have an 1984 Yamaha built 30hp Mariner that really came alive with a simple...

How Far to save 30 Cents/Gallon

I think it ranges from 5.5% to 17% based upon credit score and other variables. If you want a cash advance, its something like 25%! Yeah, devil is in the details...no free lunch.

How Far to save 30 Cents/Gallon

If you're a Costco member, it is highly beneficial to use their Costco Visa, and not just for fuel. The Costco Visa gives you rewards for 3% travel, 4% fuel purchases (not just at Costco), 2% Costco purchases, 2% restaurants, and 1% everywhere else. A Costco Visa also gives members increased...

    $1.00 Moeller Snap-Tite Drain Plugs

Yep. Mine were on their way out. The rubber was checked and dry rotted. Compressing the nut only made it worse. Now I have plenty! You're very welcome! Glad you found some deals to build up your boat fund.

    $1.00 Moeller Snap-Tite Drain Plugs

Defender Marine has Moeller Snap-Tite Aluminum 1" drain plugs for $1.00 each. I was in the market to replace some 11 year drain plugs and stumbled upon this deal. Drain plugs are probably the most important items in our tinboat and at this price, you could afford to have a few spares. Last I...

    Clear Coat

The old rule of thumb for epoxy paints and primers is that it sticks to everything, and everything sticks to it…with proper preparation. Another great high solids clear coat that has excellent UV inhibitors is Universal Clear from Southern Polyurethanes. I have used SPI products for over 15...

    Ideas for transom replacement?

If your transom has a "pocket" you could research using a pour in transom like Seacast or Fiberglass with chopped strands. There were a few threads here discussing epoxy/fiberglass transoms. One of them had a member build a mold, use PVC substance as a release agent on a concrete floor, poured...

    Trailer Painting

IMO, it makes a big difference regarding ease of clean up and durability. For example, go paint one car with a flat finish and another car with a high gloss finish. Park both of them out in the elements and let them weather a few months. Come back and tell us which finish has more dirt...
