    Does 2 inches really matter?

There are quite a few. SeaArk, Gale Marine, Weldbilt, Lowe, etc etc. I know hull gauge and build quality matter too. I was just curious of width. Example: SeaArk has a 2072mv and Weldbilt has a 2070mv. Both have a 96 inch beam. Does that make them both just as stable on the water...

Cracked ribs in large boat questions

Just as a FYI I gave up on this project. I did not feel it was safe enough with what we did.

    Does 2 inches really matter?

I am looking at two sizes for a big jon boat. The 2070 and the 2072. Does 2 inches really matter between the 2070 and 2072? Both of the boats I am looking at have a 96 inch beam. It's my understanding the wider the beam the more stable the boat can be? The bottom does not matter as much...

    Aluminum vs poly

I just ran into a company that is willing to build a 2072 boat built to my specs (no bass fishing deck in back) that can do the boat in poly or aluminum. They say the poly bottom is as tough as aluminum. Does anyone here have experience with a poly boat? I think a lot of drift boats are built...

Honda Electrical Puzzle (130 HP Outboard)

I figured out the alarm and the extra gauge! Someone plugged two unlike wires together for the key switch. Once unplugged everything fell into place. I did assume all the black wires being daisy chained together was the right thing to do.

Honda Electrical Puzzle (130 HP Outboard)

A wiring diagram I found shows the Yellow with green strip line on the alarm goes to a solitary Yellow with green stripe line to a CDI unit. What I have it connected to right now is a yellow line that goes... somewhere? Maybe the yellow line is "live" when the keyswitch is turned causing the...

Marine Grade Plywood or Aluminum flooring?

I went with the Marine grade plywood and rolled on Durabak on it. I used Rivet Nuts with the wood and normal Rivets with the metal (front of boat). Overall everything is looking good. I did manage to screw up 1 Rivet Nut and had to replace It. I cross threaded two others.

Honda Electrical Puzzle (130 HP Outboard)

Hello everyone, I hope some of you are ready for a puzzle? I have a 2004 130hp Honda Outboard with old spaghetti wiring that I am trying to figure out. I think I have figured out a couple things but others... well lets see if anyone can help? First one is the alarm. I do not know if it is...

Cracked ribs in large boat questions

How about using rectangle pieces? We had no way to do an angle cut and the area isn’t flat. We had to bend the part and use a clamp to flatten it.

Marine Grade Plywood or Aluminum flooring?

I should ask, why not aluminum?

Marine Grade Plywood or Aluminum flooring?

I was thinking about using rivnuts. Would make it really easy to remove when needed. Another question: How should I paint the wood after sealing it? I was thinking about using a roll on bed liner like Durabak however it is $130 a gallon. Is there anything cheaper that would work? Thanks...

Marine Grade Plywood or Aluminum flooring?

I went with 3/4 marine plywood and just sealed one side (will seal other when dry). What is the best way to fasten them to the aluminum ribs of the boat?

Marine Grade Plywood or Aluminum flooring?

I went to Home Depot to look at what they had. The cheaper BCX had a lot of imperfections in it. Cracks, knots, etc. It didn't look like a quality wood to me. I am going to 84 Lumber this weekend to see what their marine grade boards look like. I am sure they have BCX too. Maybe it will be...

Marine Grade Plywood or Aluminum flooring?

Is that considered exterior grade plywood? All the "BC" I am seeing at Home Depot is Pine. Not the best wood. I dont see a BCX? I would favor a better hardwood at the very least.

Marine Grade Plywood or Aluminum flooring?

As a side note. This boat is old and big. It may be close to retirement so maybe wood would be better. I found some: Birch Marine grade plywood, 3/4 thick, 4ft x 8ft, $106 a sheet Wooden floor in huge aluminum boat. Do you guys use anything on the wood to seal it up? Edit: Sooo... oil...
