Minn Kota Raptor

Have you seen or read about the new Minn Kota Raptor? For some reason it looks awfully familiar, like I have seen this before in the past. It’s sort of like a surface tablet and an iPad. They look the same, act the same, both have pluses and minuses, but the reality is that one is late to the game. They do say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Is this the case with the new Minn Kota Raptor? Time will tell.

As I was furiously speed-scrollling thru my social media feeds, an advertisement for the Minn Kota Raptor went by. I just continued to scroll, but then it registered. Wait a minute? That wasn’t a Power-Pole, that’s from Minn Kota. Scrolling back confirmed what I thought. Minn Kota just copied the looks of the Power-Pole. I am sure there is more to it than just looks, but the reality is that the design and movement (stow and deploy) is all Power-Pole? Do you agree?  Take a look below. They look awfully close like Power-Poles to me.Minn Kota Raptor

But wait, there’s more!

Now, before every Minn Kota fanboy comes here and threatens me with verbal violence, I know it’s more than just the looks of the them. Minn Kota is touting some serious technology behind these bad boys. Take for example something the call “Active Anchoring”.  This technology automatically detects bottom hardness and adjusts its anchoring force. Is this necessary? Sure, why not. It’s one less thing to not have to think about.

Personally I hate the looks of them and the Power-Poles. I like the Talons, and I hope Minn Kota does not discontinue them.
