20230412_161616.jpg Apparently my battery leaked over the winter. All that white stuff is fairly thick corrosion on my aluminum boat.

What's the best way to handle this?

Scrape as much as possible. Then a mixture of baking soda/water might neutralize the acid. Repeat. Check for pitting. Wash with vinegar. Put the new battery in a plastic battery box.

Hopefully lesson learned, always keep an eye on them on long storage periods !! Keeping them in a battery box can help prevent these types of accidents...

Better yet, remove for long term storage. Keep in a heated utility area for the duration.

That's what I do for my boat and 5th wheel camper over the winter.
