Hey, whatever floats your boat. LOL

    Worms Anyone?

LR, not knowing the depth range you fish or the vegetation available is grabbing for straws as far as what to cast, presentation and where to cast lures or live bait. My preference is a lake that has pads, steep drops, points, various bottom hardnesses, inflow and outflow. What to cast is what...

    Won't go on plane

Maybe I could try running to the front of the boat to see if it drops the bow and running back before it hits shore - but only if the water's calm. (Just kid'n)

Confidence lures and simplifying the tackle box.

Wish that weren't true most of the time! But knowing the water is key to using various lures, and the only way I can do that is with sonar and a boat. The more times a water is fished and searched, the more I know the structure of the bottom and seasonal fish locations as well as which...

    Won't go on plane

Agree which is why I'm waiting for my mechanic to fix this sooner than later. I screwed up somehow in heavy weeds and won't do that again.

    Won't go on plane

The throttle once pushed all the way forward from half way up, does not increase RPMs. Trim angle starts from all the way down and then is raised somewhat once boat speed increases out of the hole. Motor: Aug 2007 40hp EFI 4-stroke (didn't think they even made 4-stroke motos back then) Boat...

    Won't go on plane

Has the boat been sitting in the lake and is now full of rain water? Parked on land near my garage. Has your gas can been sitting outside in the hot sun and/or rain? New unleaded gas - always from the pump. Mercury 40hp efi 4-stroke. pic will be added to edit plus other info

    Won't go on plane

When I push the throttle forward to halfway, it doesn't continue to go faster to go on plane but only plows water with the bow high. When I bought the boat recently and took it out for the first time it did great, 40 hp withstanding. Seem like a fuel-starved carb. Any ideas?

Quest to discover more soft plastic shapes and actions ongoing

IMO scents are nonscents. ;) My lures move too fast even at slow speeds for fish to smell or spit out a lure due to scent or taste. Though if I dipped a lure in gasoline chances are it wouldn't get bit. Color is as color does meaning: a lure's shape sets it apart from a background whether the...

Anyone fish for all species including panfish?

Excellent post and fish thill!!!! The use of light tackle is a big challenge when it comes to catching and playing large fish. Best is the number of fish caught on one outing - many days over 100.

Quest to discover more soft plastic shapes and actions ongoing

Many anglers on other forums don't comment on the pictures of fish and the lures that caught them, preferring store-bought lures. To each his own. Lure craft isn't for everyone and it's understandable. But lure crafters are after the answers to different questions - especially as it pertains to...

Lithium battery - worth the expense?

Even deep cycle Pb batteries? I keep mine on a trickle charge after full charging.

Lithium battery - worth the expense?

My bass boat required three batteries: two deep cycles for trolling and the livewell for holding tournament bass and one for starting - the last one charged by the motor. They all lasted quite a while and the t.m. batteries did well on a tandem charge We're not talking huge lakes or river...

Lithium battery - worth the expense?

Dang, you two should get a commission as convincing and educational when it comes to Li batteries! (No way did I forget everyone else's contributions.) But I don't want to take only price into consideration, which seems crucial when choosing one. But $300 +/- is a lot to pay for a small boat...

Lithium battery - worth the expense?

Hand-crank starts when it does, which is not often. Guess I've been trying to restart it like a 2-stroke and flooding it. Mostly has sat in the garage since I got it Dec. 2021 which is why a 12v is so important.

Lithium battery - worth the expense?

From all that, no way am I going Li even for my 12' jon boat with 2.5 hp 4-stroke! Guess I'll be buying a new Pb acid battery that I'll recharge with my simple auto-charger.

    Aeration systems

I don't have the luxury of a livewell like in the bass boat I used to own. Now it's just a plastic box and a bucket to change the water ever so often. The fish are brought home and stocked in my pond. Very few don't make the 35 min. trip but that's a good idea using a 12v aerator for the trip home.
